Drawing on four decades of diverse professional experience, Ms. Kwon is recognized for her leadership of Terre du Lac, Inc., a private 5,200-acre land development company with 16 lakes and 2 golf courses, and Terre de Lac Homes, LLC, a custom home builder and real estate brokerage firm. She first joined Terre du Lac, Inc. in 2014 as vice president and in 2018 was promoted to president. In her current role, she is responsible for managing the developer side of the business, developing real estate, selling acreage and building lots, meeting with building owners and ensuring smooth operations on job sites.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Kwon served as a court mediator for Santa Clara County, CA and a technology management consultant for her own firm, Kwon Consulting Services. She was a field engineer/account manager for Hewlett-Packard Company, a key account manager for Mentor 3D Graphics, and MIS manager for Motorola, Inc. Prior to embarking on her professional path, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; during her studies there, she was recognized with a Knight of St. Pat Award, the highest non-academic award for engineering students and an Illinois Power Scholarship Award, was a Homecoming Queen candidate, and was named to the Dean's List. She was president of IEEE, and vice president of the Society of Women Engineers. She later obtained several real estate certifications, including a Real Estate Broker designation from the Missouri Real Estate Commission, an e-PRO Certification and C2Ex Commitment to Excellence from the National Association of Realtors, and a Real Estate Negotiation Expert certification from the Real Estate Business Institute.
Among her professional achievements, Ms. Kwon is especially proud of helping to design the first "lights out" computer automated manufacturing facility for Motorola cellular phones in the 1980's. Building her first house as the general contractor was also a deeply rewarding achievement and education. Ms. Kwon attributes these successes to her father, who taught her about responsibilities, hard work, honor, trust and the importance of education. As a commitment to her profession, she is on the board of the Terre de Lac Property Owners Association, a trustee for Kwon Trust, a Meals on Wheels volunteer who helped establish the program for the Terre du Lac community, a SVDP food bank volunteer, and a member of the Missouri Realtor Strategic Planning Committee and Missouri Realtor Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers.
Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Kwon serves as chairperson of the Community Development and Promotion Committee, which she led in successfully building a 3.2-mile biking and walking trail in her community 100% funded by property owner donations. She also enjoys volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. In her free time, Ms. Kwon likes to golf, play pickleball, walk her dog, hike, do yoga, paddleboard, kayak and e-bike. She looks forward to retiring in the coming years.
