TORRANCE, CA, April 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Harrison Irving Scott name has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Scott is a director and past president of the Ridge Route Preservation Organization, which he founded in 2001. His aim is to ensure the continued conservation of a historical byway positioned north of Los Angeles, California. In part correlated to Mr. Scott's persistence, the highway, originally created in 1915 and situated on national forest property, is now included on the national register, as sanctioned by the state of California.

An engineer who dedicated from 1955 to 1987 of his professional life to a career with AT&T, Mr. Scott deemed Ridge Route a perfect example of early highway engineering. He then sought to identify valid methods of disseminating information about the historic route. Notably, on the 100th anniversary of the road's initial construction, Mr. Scott's organization hosted a substantial public event that offered tours, videos and refreshments to engage the community in worthwhile facts detailing the significance of the route.

Mr. Scott has penned an exemplary and comprehensive monograph about the route's inception, construction, unique history and legacy. During the intensive eight-year research phase that led to "Ridge Route: The Road that United California" and "Lost Hotels on California's Historic Ridge Route," he interacted with diverse contacts whom he identified as holding additional insights about the road, and Mr. Scott conducted thorough interviews to compile and preserve critical data.

Mr. Scott's extraordinary efforts to acknowledge, safeguard and preserve Ridge Route, as well as his creative endeavors, have earned ample recognition: Jay Leno featured him in a production, and the local state assembly admirably assisted Mr. Scott in seeing through the important project. Additionally, his efforts were showcased in Preservation Magazine, a publication of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and he has accepted distinguished accolades from various historical societies, as well as the California State Assembly.
