Rebecca White Vajdak Honored for her Commitment to her Community

TEMPLE, TX, April 25, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rebecca White Vajdak has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A respected business owner and community leader, Rebecca White Vajdak is distinguished for her years of service to her community. To prepare for her future across various sectors, including entrepreneurship, real estate, oil & gas, retail and law enforcement, she matriculated at Texas A&M University, attaining a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Masters of Agriculture in Real Estate Economics. She was awarded the Tommie Stewart Scholarship and Tyrus Timm Graduate Fellowship while at A&M University. As a student she was active in the Agriculture Service Fraternity, Alpha Zeta, Hospitality Committee of the Memorial Student Center, member of the yearbook staff and graduated Cum Laude.

At the start of her career journey, Ms. Vajdak worked at Houston Lighting and Power, now Reliant Energy, in the land department. She went on to work as an independent oil & gas landman and in right of way procurement. After starting her family, she launched a needlework and quilt business, Needle Ark in 1986. As a co-owner, along with her mother, they successfully ran their business for 22 years until 2007; at one point they had three retail outlets. By 2002, they were involved in online and mail order, requiring much less of her time. She cites the entrepreneurial endeavor as a "long and arduous climb," but a job that never felt like a job. In 2000 she was appointed to the Appraisal Review Board of Harris County, Texas and served six years on the Board. The final year she was elected as one of three officers for the Board. From 1997 until 2020 she and her husband ran Vajdak Properties and the Vajdak-White Family Partnership, holding an impressive real estate portfolio primarily in the Houston area.

Upon relocating to Las Vegas in 2007, Ms. Vajdak looked to do something entirely different and challenging. She went to work with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Force in Communication or 911 and then moved to records. She was selected for the Sealing Unit where she was working when she left the department in 2012. Upon returning to Texas, she accepted a short contract as Administrator at the Czech Heritage Museum in Temple in 2013. After leaving the museum she became more involved in local politics and civic organizations. While currently retired, she is the Manager for a family business, McClarren White Partners, LTD.

In 2021 she was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Real Estate Advisory Committee for the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M in College Station.

In addition to her primary work, Ms. Vajdak has been an active member in a number of organizations and groups. These include Kiwanis Club, Girl Scouts of America, Blue Star Mothers of America, the Association of Texas Real Estate Economists, The American Quilt Society, The American Needlepoint Guild, The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and several historical and genealogical groups.

She served on the National Board of the American Needlepoint Guild from 2017 to 2023, member Blue Star Mothers of America 2014 - 2020, the Salado Historical Society and Central Texas Republican Women. She has held chapter, state and National positions with the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Currently she serves as their Veterans Administration Volunteer Services appointee for the Olin Teague VA Hospital System and as a National Vice-Chair for the Patriot Records Project Committee. Her volunteer work keeps her busy and engaged in the community, state and nation.

Reflecting upon her abundant career, Ms. Vajdak attributes her success to her parents who instilled in her an excellent moral compass and work ethic. She also credits her husband, Roy, who has always been an unfailing support system. Additionally, as a young working mother in the 1980s, she feels proud to represent a group of working women who were able to balance a professional and domestic life.
