Ms. Deluca is the Executive Director and Founding President of Chronic Illness Advocacy & Awareness Group Inc. (CIAAG), a national nonprofit organization which focuses on the convergence of public health and individual rights. Ms. Deluca became gravely ill as a result of medical negligence and denial of appropriate medical care in 2017. Thrust into the healthcare system, she became acutely aware of the systemic issues facing patients living with complex illnesses/conditions and the extreme stigma associated with it. This experience opened her eyes to the gaps and inconsistencies taking place in the public health and the private healthcare systems leading to patient injury and/or neglect. Using her experience from the commercial insurance and risk management industry she founded CIAAG to address the inequities in patient care and protect individual civil liberties.
As Executive Director of CIAAG, Ms. Deluca is responsible for meeting with lawmakers and other stakeholders to discuss and advocate for policy changes, regulatory oversight of public-private partnerships and other initiatives that support the federal government initiatives while preserving individual rights. The organization's projects include public health policy analysis, issuance of whitepapers, hosting roundtable meetings, professional consulting services, mentorship and educational programs. Ms. Deluca's dedication and strategic approach has led her to expand her organization to include 30 organizational partners including over 8,224,000 individuals. Ms. Deluca co-authored an exclusive research report, "Violation of a Nation" in 2019, which was internationally recognized and published by the International Drug Policy Consortium. Ms. Deluca's work in public health policy has led her to become a representative at the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as well as the Vienna Non-Governmental Organizational Committee on Narcotic Drugs (VNGOC) and the United Nations Office of Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). In 2020, Ms. Deluca served as a subject matter expert for the UNODC and had her contributions included in the first ever international guidance document on the use of public-private partnerships. In recognition of her policy efforts, Ms. Deluca was named one of the International Forum on Advancements in Healthcare Top 100 Healthcare Leaders in 2021.
Prior to entering the healthcare policy sphere, Ms. Deluca excelled as a Commercial Insurance Executive and Risk Manager with The Sullivan Group, Insurance Marketing Agency Inc., Marsh & McLennan Agency, and Quincy Insurance, among others, where she oversaw high-value commercial accounts for more than 12 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Nichols College, and is a member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society and the International Society of Female Professionals. She credits her success across industries to her determination, positivity, and consistency, and considers anything to be possible with hard work and the right mindset.
