Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in educational leadership and special education, Ms. Baltas has earned distinction as a school principal, school assistant principal, Intervention Specialist and most recently Manager of Employee Relations for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Ms. Baltas is looking forward to her new role supporting employees in order for them to support students and families in the district.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Baltas began her career as an intervention specialist with Westlake City Schools in 2006 and was a special education tutor for Rocky River City Schools in 2007. She then served as a teacher for the Avon Local School in 2008 until becoming an intervention specialist at William Cullen Bryant School in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in 2013. She earned a promotion to a curriculum and instruction specialist in 2016 and served as an ESRA principal in 2019. During this time, she also served as an assistant principal in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District from 2018 until 2022 and was a summer learning experience principal in 2021 and 2022. Among her professional accomplishments, she is proud to have been honored with a CMSD H.E.A.R.T Champion Award in 2018 and 2022.
Likewise a dedicated civil advocate, Ms. Baltas regularly supports three organizations. Because I Said I Would, a non-profit run by Alex Sheen who started a social movement dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. She is also involved with the American Heart Association and has hosted the Kids Heart Challenge and the American Heart Challenge at her schools. Additionally, she gives of time and resources to Dec My Room which strives to make healing spaces for children who are long term patients in hospitals.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Baltas earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Wittenberg University in 2006. Following this accomplishment, she attained a Master of Education in educational leadership and administration from Cleveland State University in 2016. Well-qualified in her field, she is certified as a school principal, intervention specialist and early childhood teacher with the Ohio Department of Education.
Within the coming years, Ms. Baltas intends to continue rising in her career, supporting employees of CMSD to ensure that the district continues to strive for an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed and celebrated. She wants to continue to create an environment where everyone is motivated to give their best for students and families. Ms. Baltas also looks forward to exploring doctoral programs to continue to grow in her own knowledge.
