He focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration, international investment arbitration, and public international law, acting as counsel for states, national oil companies, state-owned and commercial entities, and sovereign wealth funds in arbitrations under numerous rules and procedures in a wide range of sectors, including construction and infrastructure, natural resources, oil and gas, and transportation.
In addition to his arbitration experience, he has represented clients in joint venture and corporate disputes, and on corporate transactions in the oil and gas sector involving major international oil companies (IOCs) and has been involved in numerous enforcement and other local proceedings arising from international arbitrations.
Prior to his current role, Mohannad worked in local law firms in Libya and served as a teaching assistant for the University of Tripoli. Well-qualified in his field, he is a valued member of the bars of New York, Washington D.C., the U.S. Supreme Court, and numerous other U.S. federal courts. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the Institute's highest membership grade.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mohannad earned a licentiate in law from Tripoli University in 2010, and a Master of Laws in International Business and Trade Law from Fordham University School of Law in 2011. Additionally, he was honored with an award for the highest academic achievement and the highest performance from the University of Tripoli in 2010.
