Mr. Tate has found success in business and entrepreneurship as the co-owner of his family-owned and operated Italian restaurants, founded by his father & uncle in 1984 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Offering two eateries in Clymer, including Luigi's Ristorante & Catering and Luigi's Pizzeria, the family also owns two sister locations in DuBois, known as Luigi's Ristorante and Banquet Center, Luigi's Villa.
Serving in his position since 2014, Mr. Tate focuses on ensuring a positive customer experience by providing excellent service combined with quality, handmade dishes passed down from generation to generation. Among other goals, he manages operations, conducts monthly meetings to address safety, quality, productivity, and employee suggestions, and implements a new continuous improvement system that meets the needs of both customers and employees.
Mr. Tate attributes his success in the restaurant business to his father for allowing him to work at a young age and teaching him the importance of work ethic and good communication. While coming of age, he also developed excellent leadership skills and an understanding of the importance of caring for the community's needs before himself.
Apart from his work in the hospitality sector, Mr. Tate has served as the managing partner at Teti Holdings Inc. in Clymer since 2022. He also self-published his first book in 2022, "The Luigi Way: Benedictine Values Proven Effective in Leadership." A case study focusing on successful leadership, values, organizational ethics, and more, the book also highlights how Mr. Tate's family restaurant thrived throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and achieved long-term success. "The Luigi Way" has sold nearly 2,000 books thus far and will release an audio version soon. Mr. Tate has since been invited to speak publicly about leadership at area hospitals and universities.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Tate envisions establishing a management consulting company to help other restaurant entrepreneurs receive the Lean Six Sigma tools, applications, and methodologies to succeed. He is also considering expanding the selling of the restaurant's exclusive spaghetti sauce, and other "Luigi's favorites" at grocery stores.
Mr. Tate has been influential in his community, giving back to local non-profits like the local United Way. He is also a former trainer for Acme Providers. He is also a former volunteer strength trainer for Acme Providers. Moreover, he was active with Saint Vincent College for several years as a lector for its campus ministry, treasurer and trainer for its fitness club, and member of its operational excellence club.
A graduate of Saint Vincent College, Mr. Tate received a Bachelor of Science in business administration, management, and operational excellence in 2018. During his studies, he completed a study abroad program in Spanish at the Costa Rican Language Academy in 2016. Mr. Tate also received credentials as a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and ServSafe certification and recently completed an authorship class at Georgetown University in 2022.
