Mr. Johnson was recently selected to represent District Two as the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors supervisor in 2022.

Mr. Johnson was recently selected to represent District Two as the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors supervisor in 2022. As an elected official of more than 52,000 constituents, he serves the county board, sits on numerous committees, and, among other obligations, holds board meetings. As a legislative branch of the government, the Board of Supervisors focuses on serving the public and comprises 18 representatives.

As a longtime resident of Milwaukee, Mr. Johnson is passionate about public service. Before being elected to the 2nd District, he notably served in the same position for the 13th District between 2000 and 2022, replacing his incumbent, who had served for 20 years before stepping down and beating out six opponents. He is serving his eighth term in office on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Looking toward the future, Mr. Johnson aims to continue getting reelected and serving the community.

Mr. Johnson wrote the Park East Redevelopment Compact during his tenure, which outlines the County of Milwaukee's development rules and guidelines. He also presented at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Center for Economic Education. However, what stood out the most during his years of service was his involvement in advocating for minority and women's business development entrepreneurship. Before his public service, Mr. Johnson spent more than a decade as a social worker employed by the worked for the Milwaukee County Department of Human Services Financial Assistance and Child Welfare divisions.

Adding to his civic contributions, Mr. Johnson has volunteered his time as a board member of the Neighborhood Housing Services/NeighborWorks of Milwaukee, has been active on the advisory committee of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council, and was trained by the Homeownership Counseling Consortium as a homeownership counselor and homeownership educator. He is also a board member and past president of the Wisconsin Counties Association, a stakeholder advisory committee of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, and a member of the Great Harambee Neighborhood Initiative Association. Moreover, Mr. Johnson has been active with the youth as a board member of the Three Harbors Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Among a multitude of other roles, he spent more than a decade as a consultant and volunteer teacher for the Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. He is the president of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation Board of Directors.

Passionate about advancing African American leadership, Mr. Johnson has also been involved as a member of the Milwaukee Urban League, the 100 Black Men of Greater Milwaukee, the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and the National Association of Black County Officials. He is also a diamond life member of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Mr. Johnson graduated from Lincoln High School as the valedictorian of his senior class. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science at Northwestern University in 1981, he completed coursework toward a Master of Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in humanities at the Wisconsin University of Theology. Mr. Johnson is a certified registered social worker and a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Concerning his career in social work, Mr. Johnson has been a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Recognized for his accomplishments with dozens of awards, he was honored to receive a National Association of Social Workers Public Service Award from the organization's Wisconsin chapter. He also received an abundance of civic honors, including a Civil Rights Partnership Award from the Federal Highway Administration, a Secretary's Golden Shovel Award from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, a Wisconsin Fair Housing Network's Individual Elected Official Award, a Milwaukee NAACP Branch Outstanding Politician Award, and a Harambee Great Neighborhood Initiative "I'm In" Award.
