Cara Cohen channels years of expertise into her work with Cara Cohen Advocate

She helps families who have children with special needs or disabilities, including, but not limited to, cognitive, social, and emotional disabilities.

SUDBURY, MA, June 01, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cara Cohen has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned educational expert with years of expertise in behavior modification and special education, Ms. Cohen presently excels as a special education advocate and educational consultant for Cara Cohen Advocate. In this capacity, she helps families who have children with special needs or disabilities, including, but not limited to, cognitive, social, and emotional disabilities. Additionally, she assists families in obtaining individualized education plans for their children. Prior to establishing herself in private practice, Ms. Cohen worked in a variety of settings focusing on students with special needs.

During the early stages of her career, Ms. Cohen gained valuable expertise as a special educator for The New England Center for Children. She furthered her career working for Alexandria City Public Schools in northern Virginia as a special education teacher and then moved on to be the Autism Resource Specialist. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Special Needs and Elder Care Group within USA500, the Special Education Parent Advocacy Network, the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc., and the Federation for Children with Special Needs.

An expert in her field, Ms. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders from the University of Rhode Island in 1997. Subsequently, she expanded upon her professional knowledge, earning a Master of Science in Education specializing in Special Education from Simmons University in 2000. In her varied positions, she helped to pilot an inclusion classroom, established a co-teaching model and started a support group for families of children with Autism while working for Alexandria City Public Schools.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Cohen takes the most pride in alleviating the stress of families facing educational obstacles. As an example, she worked with a family whose oldest child faced difficulties in middle and high school. After working with the family through many stages and transitions, she was able to help get the student placed in private school where she continues to excel. Most recently, because of her vast breadth of expertise, Ms. Cohen was featured in "The New York Times" to discuss the impact of the COVID pandemic and special education. The cornerstone of her success lies in her social skills, compassion for the special needs population, and her desire to make a positive difference in people's lives. Looking ahead, Ms. Cohen aims to continue advocating for children with special needs.
