A seasoned education executive with 20 years of expertise in the field, Mr. Spada presently excels as an EdTech and E-learning Consultant in the higher education sector. In this capacity, Patrick manages the accreditation, regulatory compliance, and enrollment objectives for a portfolio of online universities. He is also the founder of Aspen University, where he dually served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman between 2004 and 2011. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Spada gained valuable expertise as the Chairman of The Western Institute of Science and Health, a physical therapy college in Northern California.
Alongside his work, Mr. Spada has donated funds supporting missionaries traveling to Africa and India to install water irrigation systems for Indigenous tribes in desperate need of growing crops and having fresh drinking water. Other philanthropic endeavors include tutoring inner-city students for SAT/ACT exams. An expert in his field, he earned an MBA from Bern University in 2002.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Spada has been honored many times, receiving scholarships for college athletics, including a wrestling scholarship from Montclair State University. Likewise, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Philanthropy and an Honorary Doctorate in Entrepreneurship from Aspen University. In 1973, within less than one year of joining the Morristown Beard wrestling team, Mr. Spada went undefeated and became the State Champion in Wrestling for his weight class.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Spada takes the most pride as the Founder of Aspen University where he developed the first online Master of Science in Nursing program accredited by the DEAC & CCNE. As CEO, he grew the student body from only several students to over 5,000. At ASPU, he also lead the digital transformation of the University, where he designed & developed the curriculum for over 120 new online courses, and rightfully earns the honor of being a Pioneer in the EdTech space.
As a consultant, Patrick took more than 40 post-secondary schools through the rigorous process of accreditation and through the approval of eligibility with the U.S. Department of Education for Title 4 Funding/Federal Financial Aid.
Through the Gruber Foundation, he provided free college preparation tutoring services to inner-city high school students. The cornerstone of his success lies in his empathy and compassion to help others succeed through higher education access, especially for economically disadvantaged student populations. Looking forward, Mr. Spada intends to continue his philanthropic work and eventually establish tuition-free colleges.
