Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in chemical engineering for drug delivery platforms and formulations using microneedles and dental devices, Dr. Boese has earned distinction as the chief operating officer, chief technical officer and founding member of 3iBiotechnologies, LLC. Since 2019, he has focused his efforts on developing drug-coated floss and floss picks with coat formulations specific to a patient's dietary needs. He is the first person to coat floss with medications for delivery to the gum pocket, which is patented through his company, having been inspired by a visit to the dentist where he decided to create a better way to treat oral gingivitis aside from the frustrating method offered to him. His present research also focuses on establishing methods to induce an immune response for various conditions, including treating and administering various forms of medications which are at dosage levels that are 80% less of what is actually required or being used in customary methods.
Prior to starting his private career, Dr. Boese served honorably in the United States Army from 1998 until 2006 and was honorably discharged. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was honored with numerous service ribbons including two Army Good Conduct Medals, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal and numerous Army Commendation Medals.
Following his military service, Dr. Boese began his career as a lab assistant and field technician with Go Coil Field Services and Coil Tubing in 2010. Following this time, he served as a research assistant for Texas Tech University from 2012 until 2020. Over the course of his career, he has also contributed a wealth of written works to the field, including "Drug coated microneedles for minimally invasive treatment of oral carcinomas: development and in vitro evaluation" in 2014, "Coated floss for drug delivery into the gum pocket" featured in the International Journal of Pharmaceuticals in 2021 and "Drug-coated Floss to Treat Gum Diseases: In vitro and In vivo Characterization" for the ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces in 2022.
Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Boese is proud to have been admitted as a scholar to the Golden Key International Honour Society and received an Academic Achievement Award for his stellar work. He holds multiple patents for the coating of floss, including the designing of machinery and coding required to coat floss as well as for microneedles. His designs are focused on stainless steel-form microneedles, which are custom-etched proprietary designs. This has led him to have the ability to provide a vaccine or drug administration painlessly, avoiding the cumbersome methods that currently exist and give a more patient-affirming alternative.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Boese earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Genetics from Southwestern University. He next attained a master's degree in bioengineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering in 2015 and 2022, respectively, both from Texas Tech University. He pursued his education under several scholarships, including a SMART Scholarship, a Harrington Scholarship and a Kappa Kappa Iota Scholarship.
Within the coming years, Dr. Boese intends to continue growing his company while launching different types of floss and floss pick applications to market. He also plans to give back to Texas Tech University by mentoring students and others in the local community.
