After a distinguished career in law that spanned four decades, Mr. Clark retired from his practice and turned to arts and entertainment. Presently the co-owner of the Chicago Magic Lounge since 2016, he produces worthy stories with significant meaning and entertainment value.

Among his most notable works, Mr. Clark produced the award-winning feature film "Guest Artist," written by and starring Jeff Daniels. He has also produced dramatic plays including "When Harry Met Rehab," which was nominated for the 2022 Joseph Jefferson Equity "Best New Work" award. Renowned for his innate ability to tell stories and capture an audience, whether in the courtroom before a judge or jury or for guests at the lounge, Mr. Clark aims to continue serving the general public in the form of storytelling.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Clark worked for several prominent law firms, including as a litigation partner in Chicago at Isham, Lincoln & Beale from 1979 to 1988 and McDermott, Will & Emery between 1988 and 1990. He was also a founding partner at Clark & DeGrand from 1990 to 2001, a boutique litigation law firm that specialized in complex litigation matters. Additionally, Mr. Clark was the general and nationwide special counsel for the United Church of Christ from 2001 to 2015. During that time, he was responsible for bringing a lawsuit in North Carolina, resulting in the recognition of the constitutional right of clergy to solemnize gay marriages throughout the state. Before retiring, Mr. Clark served as the acting president and general counsel at the Chicago Theological Seminary between 2017 and 2018.

Becoming a published author in 2021, Mr. Clark released "Summary Judgment." The book recounts the true story of his representing a death row inmate in post-conviction proceedings in Alabama. He has also been involved in public speaking and, in 2015, had the opportunity to serve as a keynote commencement speaker at his alma mater, Rutgers University Law School.

Mr. Clark is a life trustee of the Chicago Theological Seminary. He previously served as the chair of the board of trustees and is a former acting president. Through his community, Mr. Clark has gained recognition for his efforts as an advisory committee member for Hands of Peace since 2003. The organization brings together high school-age youth from Israel, Palestine, and the U.S. to work on conflict resolution during the summer months. Other notable roles included Mr. Clark's affiliation with the Adler Planetarium as a life trustee and former chair. He was twice elected to serve on his local school board, on which he served as its President. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America while coming of age, becoming recognized as an eagle scout in 1972.

Mr. Clark graduated from Williams College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in political economy. He subsequently attended Rutgers University, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1979. Mr. Clark has been admitted to practice before the state courts of Illinois, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Third, Sixth, and Seven Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He also received credentials from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Recognizing his accomplishments, Mr. Clark received an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the Chicago Theological Seminary. He was also named among Rutgers-Camden's Finest by Rutgers University in 2016, with an Arthur E. Armitage Sr. Distinguished Alumni Award from Rutgers University in 2015 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Crain's Cleveland Business in 2014. Mr. Clark attributes the support of many great people to influencing his life's decisions, including his wife, children, and parents.
