Additionally, he utilizes his expertise as a professor and intellectual lead for several higher-ed institutions including Humber College, York University and Algoma University. Krishnapillai began his stellar career at Nortel, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world during that time. His engineering marvel was quickly recognized by the bay area, and he moved to Aspect Communications in California as an engineering consultant. Equipped with the entrepreneurial spirit of the Silicon Valley, he returned to Ottawa, Canada to be part of a start-up company, Sigpro Wireless, which had acquired the seed funding from one of the largest venture capitalists in Canada. As part of a team, building an organization from the ground up, he acquired the passion for developing structured methodologies for determining and delivering complex projects that enhance the competitive value of the organization. This led him to serve as the director of delivery services accountable for all strategic initiatives at Giesecke+Devrient, where he built an effective project management office which was instrumental for the organization's exponential growth in the payment card industry market share within the Canadian landscape. He expanded his fintech expertise into International Financial Data Services (IFDS) as the global director of delivery services serving clients within the North American, European, and Asia Pacific markets.
After immigrating to Canada alone when he was 18 years old to avoid the civil war in Sri Lanka with only a faint ray of hope and a never quit attitude in his back pocket, Krishnapillai completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He is now a licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario (P.Eng.) a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®), Program Management Professional (PgMP®), PMI® – Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP) and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He also holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree specializing in Adult Education from Brock University and a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) – Executive Management from Royal Roads University; in addition, he is also a Certified Scrum Master (CSM®), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO®) and SAFe Program Consultant (SPC®). Krishnapillai is also recognized as a PMI®-ATP trainer, Prosci® certified change management consultant and a regular speaker in project management industry conferences including the Global Project Management conference.
