During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. James was instrumental with several other leading brands, including IBM and Dassault Systèmes. While working with IBM, he helped the organization sell a significant piece of its business to Toshiba after rebranding it worldwide. Mr. James was also recognized for leading a company to go public, has helped other organizations rebrand themselves, and, more recently, provided his expertise to the University of Pennsylvania after it developed a new cancer treatment.
Mr. James began his career abroad in London, working in engineering. Transitioning into marketing over two decades ago, he worked for several leading companies, including Tata Technologies in 2009 as its chief marketing officer responsible for managing its brand and all global marketing efforts. Mr. James also served as the managing partner at The Frameworks Worldwide Ltd. between 2010 and 2017.
Avid of giving back to his community, Mr. James has been affiliated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He has also served as a partner at Born & Raised Detroit, a nonprofit foundation comprised of all volunteers that support initiatives to help build stronger communities and lifestyles for the Detroit youth. Since its founding, the organization has raised over $1 million to support its mission.
Mr. James graduated from Saint John's University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering. He has been recognized for success among the Top 100 Marketing and Advertising Leaders in 2021. His agency was also named as the Healthcare Agency of the Year in 2022. Mr. James attributes his marketing success to employing a rigorous, in-depth process when working with clients. He also notes one of several mentors, the late Ulrich Herter, whom he had worked with for 25 years and who was very inspiring.
