Robert John Kuehn Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Col. Kuehn celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Attributing 30 years to his professional success, Col. Kuehn retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1997. During his tenure, he garnered expertise in logistics, education, headquarters staff, and organizational command, beginning as an aircraft maintenance officer in Vietnam, followed by another position at headquarters in Tokyo. Col. Kuehn also earned experience as an ICBM crew commander, instructor, and evaluator in missile operations in North Dakota. Among other roles, Col. Kuehn served as a base commander at Bitburg Air Base in Germany, becoming recognized alongside his soldiers with the U.S. Air Force Best Base in Europe Award. Moreover, he served as the combat support wing commander at Kadena Air Base in Japan before returning to the Pentagon for his second tour in the Air Force Office for International Affairs.

Upon his retirement from the military, Col. Kuehn worked in program management and business development with various defense and aerospace firms in Huntsville. He served as a program manager and vice president at the Marshall Space Flight Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, served as the director of business development at BAE Systems, founded Silver Eagle Consulting as the firm's president, and lent his expertise as a consultant for Third Coast Federal Inc. Among his most notable accomplishments during this time, Col. Kuehn created a $34 billion pipeline and contributed to $4 billion in contract wins.

Outside of his military service, Col. Kuehn has been active civically as a mentor for the Women's Business Center in Huntsville, as a member of the Huntsville Leadership Program and the Huntsville 100 community support group, as a member of the board of directors of the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, and as a past president of his homeowners' association for more than 20 years. He was also involved with his parish's social justice ministry, served as the church secretary, and was involved with a program that supported the homeless, immigrants, and refugees. Additionally, Col. Kuehn was active in his local Knights of Columbus.

Col. Kuehn is highly educated, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government from the University of Washington in 1967 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Dakota in 1975. As a leader in his industry, he has been a professional member and past president of the Huntsville chapter of the Air Force Association and the Michiana chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.

Recognizing his time in the service, Col. Kuehn was decorated by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force with multiple medals, including a Superior Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Commendation Medal. He also received an Air Force Legion of Merit and Organizational Excellence Award and several other international service awards. Furthermore, Col. Kuehn was honored by the Air Force Association with a Medal of Merit. He credits much of his success to his faith and his passion for learning.
