INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FL, August 03, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Russel Rhodes with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Rhodes celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After a long and prosperous career in his industry, Mr. Rhodes retired as a systems engineer at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Throughout his tenure, he conducted extensive research. He also led many technical studies, including in vacuum technology, co-authored numerous papers on advanced space propulsion and space transportation systems, and was responsible for introducing mass spectrometry to the world. Mr. Rhodes officially retired in February 2012 after 52 years with the organization.

During his distinguished tenure with NASA, Mr. Rhodes was involved in many projects, including servicing the high-pressure gas of the Saturn vehicle early on in his career. He was also engaged in a procedure for launching a vehicle that had never been tried before and was successful. Mr. Rhodes was notably associated with all the NASA programs while employed by the agency. Moreover, he worked with individuals in Washington, evaluating their new technology programs and providing contracts for people that would submit against technical challenges.

Mr. Rhodes began his career with NASA while serving in the military in Huntsville, Alabama, when the ABMA's Missile Firing Laboratory was transferred. He briefly worked for Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, Maryland, before returning to NASA, where he began focusing on designing, developing, testing, and operating the Saturn class space transportation systems.

Aside from his full-time contributions, Mr. Rhodes has been featured in several articles for his expertise and has spoken publicly in his field. Civically, he has been involved in local leadership through his church, Saint Paul's United Methodist Church.

Mr. Rhodes graduated from Tippecanoe High School in Tippecanoe, Indiana, in 1954 before earning a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering from the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne in 1958. He was subsequently drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 because he had acquired an aeronautical engineering degree and, at the time, the country was experiencing significant layoffs. Mr. Rhodes served as a rocket team member designing, developing, conducting flight tests, and operating ballistic missiles. He served in this capacity until 1961.

Remaining active as a charter member of NASA's Space Propulsion Synergy Team since 1991, which improved communications between all the elements involved in designing and building the space systems, Mr. Rhodes is also active on its steering committee.
