Doctor Stubblefield was a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine for over 29 years and is a lifelong fellow to the American College of Emergency Physicians.

    SALINAS, CA, August 31, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James Stubblefield, MD, FACEP has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process. Since 1990, Dr. Stubblefield has focused his efforts and expertise in emergency medicine and prehospital medical care or emergency medical services (EMS).

Jim, as his friends call him, had an interest in medicine since he was nine years old. He also had a huge interest in science and mathematics. In preparation for his medical career Jim went into engineering and earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a Master of Science in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977. He was elected into the prestigious engineering Honor Society, Tau beta Pi. He worked as an engineer with a concentration in energy conservation for Norcross, Inc. in 1977. Following this he entered medical school and obtained a doctor of medicine from Hahnemann Medical College in 1982 and completed an internship in general surgery at Letterman Army Medical Center in 1983. He subsequently underwent a residency in emergency medicine at Madigan Army Medical center which he completed in 1990. He was selected as chief resident there during the last year of his residency.

Prior to starting his private career, Dr. Stubblefield served in the United States Army. He started with a commission as a 2nd lieutenant through the ROTC program prior to starting medical school. On active duty he served as a brigade surgeon and flight surgeon for the famous 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 1983 until 1987. He deployed with task forces to such places as Egypt, Alaska, and Panama. He was also a flight surgeon for an attack helicopter battalion during Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf in 1991. For his action there he was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal. His final military assignment was at Fort Ord California at Silas B. Hayes Army hospital where he was the chief of the department of emergency medicine and primary care and promoted early to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. It was there that he managed all prehospital care and over 150 military personnel to include family practice services, urgent care, troop and aviation clinics, and the emergency department.

Doctor Stubblefield began his private career in 1994 and for the next 20 years worked at Salinas Valley Health with positions to include chairman of the emergency department and establishment of an independent emergency Medical Group, SVEMG, as a founder and its first CEO. He held that position for over 9 years. He received the hospital's Humanitarian Service Award and TLC award. He also was appointed in California to the position of Medical Director for Monterey County EMS. Except for three years he held this position from 1994 until 2019. He was instrumental in developing the prehospital policies and protocols for Monterey County. Those policies not only include patient care; but, multi-casualty incident, disaster management, hazardous materials, bioterrorism, and tactical medicine.

Doctor Stubblefield was a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine for over 29 years and is a lifelong fellow to the American College of Emergency Physicians. He continues to practice medicine. His focus still involves EMS and more recently clinical practice in urgent care.

In his free time, he works to improve his skills and his hobbies to include photography, art, and billiards.
