Drawing on years of experience in the manufacturing and engineering industries, Mr. Silva presently excels as the Senior Program Manager of Saft's Aerospace, Defense & Performance Division. In this capacity, he participates in various strategic projects, including the development of power solutions for ballistic missiles, Unmanned Underwater (UUVs) and Aerial (UAVs) Vehicles, and energy storage projects. Prior to obtaining his current role, he worked as the company's PMO leader in the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Division. Alongside his work at Saft, Mr. Silva serves his country as a Civil Engineer Officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and currently holds the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Officer Training School (OTS) program.
Over the years, Mr. Silva held numerous management roles with such companies as EaglePicher Technologies, Gerdau Group, and ThyssenKrupp AG through which he oversaw several projects in North America, South America and Europe. In conjunction with his work, Mr. Silva has contributed to the community through volunteering work at Junior Achievement Brazil and Habitat for Humanity programs, several charities for Cerebral Palsy and Autism, and serving as Ambassador at the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce in Texas.
Driven to remain abreast of ongoing industry changes, Mr. Silva maintains professional alignment with the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (TBLS), the American Society for Quality (ASQ), the Project Management Institute (PMI), and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). An expert in his field, he graduated from Universidade Severino Sombra (USS) and received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge by earning a Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO), a Graduate Certificate in Management from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Texas A&M University. In order to further his knowledge, Mr. Silva is pursuing a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Silva has been inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, the Golden Key International, and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Societies. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in working on the full redesign of a nonferrous recycling facility in Texas and participating in a gold mine renewable site project in Australia where six ESS batteries were installed at the energy collection point of solar and wind production. The cornerstone of his success lay in his sense of pride in himself and his country, as well as his perseverance and vast professional network. Looking ahead, Mr. Silva aims to complete his PhD, mentor the new generation of engineers, be an influencer in the renewable energy field, and continue serving his country as a proud member of the U.S. Air Force.
