Transitioning into hospitality after a successful career in education, Ms. Cooley owns and operates Blessed Brews Coffee Shop in Alamosa, Colorado. Since 2018, she has managed her local storefront with her sister, specializing in serving traditional coffee, Caffe Americanos, cappuccinos, and lattes by experienced baristas, various other hot and cold beverages, and breakfast and lunch items.
Taking over the business from her mother after undergoing back surgery and having to retire early, Ms. Cooley and her sister have been very successful. Despite not having a business background, she persevered and has become a very confident and professional leader. Fluent in managing and training her talented and friendly staff members, Ms. Cooley is also responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the shop, marketing, and various administrative duties.
More recently, Ms. Cooley opened ROOTS by blessed (Blessed Brews Coffee Shop), on Main Street in Alamosa. It is open six days a week from 6:30 am to 5 p.m. for patrons.
Prior to taking over Blessed Brews, Ms. Cooley taught middle school English at a public school in Tampa, Florida. She also taught at a local charter school in Westminster, Denver. Eager for the future, Ms. Cooley envisions continued growth and success of her family-owned and operated coffee shop, serving the local community and providing the best customer service and products with open minds and humble hearts.
Invested in her community, Ms. Cooley is an active member of the Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce. She also donates to local causes, including the police department in town, local high schools, and Adams State University.
Ms. Cooley graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in English, an emphasis in secondary education, and minors in journalism and coaching. She remains active as a professional member of the National Federation of Independent Business, a nonprofit organization that serves as a voice for small businesses.
