Constance Fortunato Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Social Transformation

Constance Fortunato channels her passion for music into her work with Canticum Novum International

She fosters an environment that empowers children to find their inner giftedness, and in the process develop dignity, hope, and self-confidence.

SANTA CRUZ, CA, September 20, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Constance Fortunato has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Driven to encourage children to "dream big," Ms. Fortunato presently serves as the founder and president of Canticum Novum International, and its two divisions, Music Camp International and Musedics International. Since opening her doors in 2002, she has fostered an environment that empowers children to find their inner giftedness, and in the process develop dignity, hope, and self-confidence. Through Music Camp International, she brings children together from all walks of life to love and appreciate music in all its forms. With the involvement of her specially trained music teachers, she provides her students with a positive, dynamic and nurturing environment equipping them to sing various types of music in different languages and play a wide range of instruments – many of them touching an instrument for the first time. As head of the organization, Ms. Fortunato oversees fundraising efforts to ensure the continued success of the program and develops and maintains the program's curriculum.

Before founding Canticum Novum, Ms. Fortunato gained valuable expertise in music, educational development, and social transformational therapy as an adjunct professor and piano teacher, a role she maintained for 30 years. During the early stages of her career, following the overthrow of the brutal Ceausescu regime in Romania, she began doing music therapy with orphans and marginalized children. This encouraged her to establish Music Camp International, a week-long template for social transformation through the power of music. In 2021, she founded Musedics International, a semester-long virtual template to address the isolation and social trauma of young people caused by the pandemic. An expert in her field, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in music and literature from Wheaton College. In conjunction with her work, she has aligned herself with several organizations, including End Violence Against Children, and the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities. In light of her steadfast dedication to understanding the power of music to transform, heal, and inspire, along with her considerable breadth of knowledge in curriculum development, Ms. Fortunato received the Gold Medallion Award in 1985. Similarly, she was the first non-Ukrainian to be named an Honorary Ambassador of Peace for Ukraine in 2014.

Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her industry, Ms. Fortunato credits her success to a variety of factors, including thinking outside the box and not letting fear stand in her way. Likewise, she allows her faith to hold her steady in all that she does. Looking toward the future, she aims to prepare for international Easter festivals in India and Eastern Europe in 2025. And plans are underway to include additional countries in both her Music Camps and Musedics programs. She is currently in the process of expanding her teacher training library, developing a global interactive ensemble curriculum for multiple instrument classes, and creating academically acknowledged internships.
