Adding to her credentials, Dr. Southern remains aware of developments in her field as a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American College of Dentists. She also serves as the president of the Virginia Dental Association and as a delegate for the American Dental Association. Moreover, Dr. Southern has been affiliated with the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Seattle Study Club.
In light of her success, Dr. Southern's practice was voted top two in Southwest Virginia in The Virginia Magazine in 2023. VCU School of Dentistry also recognized her with an Excellence in Prosthodontics Award.
