Mr. Leiter attended Aquinas College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he gained industry experience before pursuing an entrepreneurial path. Mr. Leiter founded Polymeric Film & Bags, Inc in 2001, a science-based company supplying flexible plastic packaging to the food and medical industries. In this capacity, he introduced Toasteewrap®, an innovative packaging wrap for sandwiches which he received a patent. The invention is still the most notable the company has produced to date.
As chief executive officer of Polymeric Film & Bags, Inc., a position he has held for over 20 years, he selected to start a manufacturing division called Accuperf, Inc., which specializes in micro and macro-perforating of flexible films. He received two patents for a breathable film tape, Accuperf, Inc. Under the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, the plant is focused on designing and manufacturing bespoke perforating solutions for cooking systems, shelf- life extension, medical, industrial and automotive applications.
During his career, Mr. Leiter held membership in and was president of the Michigan chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals. He was also a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers. He attributes his success to his perseverance and those in his life who served as stellar role models including his father, a businessman. In five to ten years Mr. Leiter's goal is to participate as a leader in the SCORES program, which allows entrepreneurs to take their ideas and products into the marketplace.
