A leader in the banking industry for over two decades, Mr. Gonzalez joined KeyBank as the institution's market president in 2018. Leveraging his years of success in the industry, he oversees Key's Central Indiana market and a dedicated business banking sales team. He is also responsible for monitoring the bank's performance across various sectors, such as private banking, commercial banking, and retail. Among other goals, Mr. Gonzalez is tasked with engaging the community to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act goals, is involved with community leaders, and strives to ensure that all the bank's teams are actively engaged in prospecting new clients and tending to the needs of current clients.
Having initially joined KeyBank in 2010, Mr. Gonzalez served as the vice president and senior relationship manager until 2013. He subsequently transitioned into business banking sales leader and senior vice president. Mr. Gonzalez was recruited to his organization from Fifth Third Bank, through which he served as a vice president from 2004 to 2010.
Since joining KeyBank, Mr. Gonzalez has successfully aided in Key becoming a leading institution within the country. He credits his former success in relationship management, portfolio management, and commercial credit underwriting to his good fortune today. He also notes his expertise in auditing and financial analysis. Looking toward future objectives, Mr. Gonzalez aims to secure a regional or national position where he can manage a larger territory and significantly impact the community.
Active locally, Mr. Gonzalez is dedicated to various nonprofit, civic, and other groups. He has served on the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce board of directors, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, the Gennesaret Free Clinic, the 500 Festival, the Academic Medical Center (IU Health), and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership. He also served as the president of the Dynamo F.C. and as the chairperson of the Indiana Latino Scholarship Fund. Being involved in the community, Mr. Gonzalez noted, has been critical to his career and leadership ability.
Highly educated, Mr. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Science in economics from the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Butler University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series Class XXXII.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Gonzalez was honored with a Signature Circle Award from KeyBank in 2011. He also garnered acclaim from Junior Achievement among Indy's Best and Brightest in banking and financial services in 2011, won a 2012 Signature Circle Award, received Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility in 2013, was named among the 20 Under 40 Latinos Going Places in PODER Hispanic Magazine in 2013, and received the Hispanic American Service Award for outstanding community leadership by La Plaza in 2016.
