/24-7PressRelease/ - Weirton, WV, May 21, 2008, Carl S. Townsend, Consultant for Computerized Technical Systems, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in information technology consulting.
Mr. Townsend brings 45 years of professional experience to Computerized Technical Systems, the consulting firm that he established 30 years ago. He specializes in mathematical modeling with computers, overseeing quality control and improving products and processes. A trainer and teacher in mechanical maintenance, he emphasizes customer training in lean manufacturing and quality control. Prior to going into business for himself, Mr. Townsend honed his skills with such companies as Bailey Controls, the National Steel Research Center, Weirton Steel and Salem Furnace Co. In the course of his career, he placed a plant floor personal computer for processing 2,000 coils a month at a local steel plant. He saw the model run for eight years, and considers this the highlight of his career so far. He attributes his success to his perseverance, determination and desire to help others.
A product of Carnegie Mellon University, Mr. Townsend earned his Master's Degree in Mathematics in 1988. He is currently on the committee for Information Technology at West Virginia Northern Community College, and has helped develop a four-year process control curriculum for Community College of Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. To date, he has published two papers: Closed Loop Control on a Hot-Dip Galvanize Line (AISE, 1989) and Optimizing Metal Production Thermal Processses Using Computer-Based Control Systems (AISI, 1997). His future goals include continuing to teach at the local community college, and taking more opportunities to train in quality control and lean manufacturing through consulting. An authority on computer modeling in relation to manufacturing processes, Mr. Townsend is available to speak with the media. He may be reached at (304) 723-2846
