PLAINVIEW, TX, November 07, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeffrey J. Vera has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Joining his alma mater, Wayland Baptist University, in Plainview, TX, in 2022, Mr. Vera serves as the institution's Director of Alumni Relations and Career Services in the Office of Advancement. His role comes after a five-year commitment at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center as a Coordinator in the School of Medicine admissions office from 2017 to 2022 and as the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Advising in the admissions office in 2022.
In his role, Mr. Vera develops opportunities such as alumni events throughout the nation, primarily in Texas. He also engages in student interactions via social media, newsletters, planning events, and other ways. Moreover, Mr. Vera is responsible for developing pre-professional workshops for students and providing academic and career guidance and support to alums and student bodies. His contributions to the university have not gone unnoticed, as he has been able to leverage his expertise and diverse skill set to facilitate the university's growth and elevate alum relations and career services.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Vera found success as a registration representative for Covenant Health System between 2012 and 2017. He also worked in the hospitality and retail sectors as a server at Chili's Grill and Bar from 2010 to 2012, as a customer service manager for Gap Inc. between 1999 and 2010, and as a sales associate for McCoy Corporation from 1996 to 1998.
Besides his professional goals, Mr. Vera is committed to various religious initiatives. He serves as an interim pastor at Primera Lubbock since 2022. He also serves as a committee and student work committee member at Texas Tech Baptist Student Ministries. Mr. Vera previously served as a youth minister for One Accord Fellowship-Lubbock and Iglesia Bautista Templo (Lubbock, TX) and was a Volunteer Youth Leader for Gethsemane Baptist Church (Plainview, Texas). Additionally, Mr. Vera has been involved in educational activities, including as a member and former alum executive board member for the Wayland Baptist University Alumni Association.
Mr. Vera graduated from Plainview High School in 1998. He subsequently received a Bachelor of Science in Christian ministry from Wayland Baptist University in 2017. Mr. Vera's career has been greatly supported through memberships with several prominent professional organizations, including the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Lubbock Area Baptist Association.
In light of his success, Mr. Vera was recognized as a 2017 T.B. Maston Christian Ethics Young Maston Scholar, while attending Wayland Baptist University. An honest and transparent business professional, he attributes much of his success to his ability to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals. He also notes his ability to remain true to himself and not conform to societal norms.
