With more than three decades of excellence in leadership in the military, Mr. Cole has earned distinction as a Senior Vice President of AOL. Until his retirement, he focused his efforts on overseeing 800 employees, centering his leadership on guiding them towards being better workers and citizens, drawing from his experience in the military.
Prior to starting his private career, Mr. Cole served honorably as a Brigadier General with the United States Army until retiring 1991. He started his military service graduating from the United States Military Academy West Point in 1963 and attained a master's degree from Purdue University. He has received numerous awards for his 28 years of service in the military and was honored with the Andrew Heiskill Award from AOL in 2006, which is given to employees that do extraordinary and distinguished community service. His family was also named the Sullivan Brothers Military Family of the Year by the Grout Museum in 2016. He was also the Army selectee to be a fellow at the Brookings Institute and was the Army Representative for a task force created by President Reagan.
Following his military service, Mr. Cole served in security for Wackenhut Security and worked for Sprint. He has also lent his expertise as a chair for the board of directors for the Prince William County American Red Cross and was on the board of directors for the Washington, DC chapter of the American Diabetes Association, for which he was featured in The Diabetes Forecast.
