Mohamed E. Aly has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

    POMONA, CA, November 21, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mohamed E. Aly has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Aly is distinguished for his 20 years of dedication to the field of electrical and computer engineering, notably in the realm of cybersecurity. As assistant professor at Cal Poly Pomona, he teaches and conducts research with undergraduate and master's students in the dynamic areas of reconfigurable computing and crypography. Dr. Aly's cutting-edge research has earned him the accolades of his peers, including a Best Paper recognition at the 2022 IEEE International System-on-Chip Conference held in Belfast, Ireland, for his unparalleled work in lightweight crypography.

Born in Egypt, Dr. Aly earned his undergraduate and master's degrees in his native country at Mansoura University. After working for several years in Egypt as a scientist at a nuclear reactor, he obtained a PhD at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2012. He went on to serve as a senior design engineer at Atmel, complete a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Virginia, and serve as a research scientist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before arriving at Cal Poly Pomona in 2018.

As his career advances, Dr. Aly enjoys numerous professional collaborations that push his research into new and exciting dimensions. These include a partnership with the director of the College of Computing at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, who hosted him in 2010 as a visiting PhD at UMass Lowell; a three-year, $300,000 grant from the U.S. Navy to build a low-power reconfigurable processor that will support natural language processing like Chat GPT; and projects with the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and NASA.

Among his career accomplishments, Dr. Aly is particularly proud of his role in developing patents in collaboration with the University of Virginia and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; he currently holds two patents, and is awaiting approval for a third. that was funded by the Semiconductor Research Corporation and the Department of Defense. Dr. Aly credits his success to being driven to fulfill his childhood dream; he hopes to someday leave a lasting scientific legacy like that of Albert Einstein.

Outside of work, Dr. Aly enjoys building drones and learning 3D printing skills. A proud IEEE member, he volunteers his time to advance his profession as a research paper and article reviewer for his peers.
