Leveraging more than several decades of excellence in industrial security, Dr. Cannon has earned distinction as the Chief Compliance Officer for MetaTeq Inc. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on growing a culture that integrates business and security through risk management. All the while ensuring her security and information system professionals are meeting the compliance requirements for the National Industrial Security Program and National Institute of Standards and Technology. Additionally, she is a valued member of the National Classification Management Society chairing several committees.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Cannon served honorably in the United States Air Force. In recognition of her dedicated service, she received an Air Force Commendation Medal in 1992 and was named Outstanding Operations Non Commissioned Officer of the Year in 1995. She was also honored with a Joint Service Achievement Medal in 1997 and another Joint Service Achievement Medal in 1998. She was presented with another Air Force Achievement Medal in 1998 and received a Joint Service Commendation Medal in 2001, all from the Secretary of Defense.
Following her military service, Dr. Cannon was a lead security analyst for CACI, International in 2007 and became an instructor for the Defense Security Service Academy in 2008. Later that year, she was a senior systems analyst for Femme Comp, Inc. until returning to CACI, International in 2009 as a deputy project manager. Following this time, she worked as the Senior Compliance Officer implementing chemical facility anti-terrorism standards for the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2010, transitioning to the Administrative Site Visit and Verification Program in 2012. She returned to her former industrial security career with the Department of Defense as a Special Agent with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency in 2016 accepting an early retirement in May 2020 receiving the Meritorious Service Award for her dedication and service to industrial security. She transitioned to private industry in the role of security manager for Lockheed Martin in late May 2020.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Cannon was named Management and Program Analyst of the Year by the United States Citizenship and Immigration's Fraud Detection and National Security division in 2015. In 2017, she was inducted to the Golden Key International Honor Society. The same year, as a Scholar Laureate International Business Delegate for the United States to Australia, she and her team were recognized as the top team for their product and delivery design. She also received the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency's Director's Achievement Award in 2018.
To prepare for her professional journey, Dr. Cannon earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of South Florida in 2000. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Public Administration in public management from Troy University in 2006 and obtained a Doctor of Business Administration in project management from Walden Unjversity in 2019. Dr. Cannon's study was nominated for Walden University 2020 Outstanding Doctoral Study of the Year. Within the coming years, Dr. Cannon intends to maintain her health holistically as she is battling multiple sclerosis and is unable to use traditional therapies. She also hopes to begin writing short stories to share her life experiences.
