She has been the founder and executive director of the Object Relations Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis since 1991. Obtaining her PhD in clinical psychology from the Gordon Derner Institute at Adelphi University in 1974, she has been a certified clinical psychologist since 1975. She graduated from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies for psychoanalytic training in 1981, where she also taught and supervised. She taught in the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, where she served as supervisor for psychotherapists in 1985.
