After working for a local public school district as a substitute teacher, Mrs. May was offered a summer position as an office administrator with Camp Norwesca in 2018. In the fall of 2020, she progressed into the role of assistant director and, since 2022, has been leading the program as the camp director.
Initially advised to pursue a career with the organization by her husband, who serves as the superintendent for Chadron State Park, located just on the other side of the camp, Mrs. May looks forward to future success in the field. As the one female director on all five camp campuses, she is proud of her achievements. Among her future goals, Mrs. May intends to continue leading and sharing her time with the many children in attendance while expanding its clientele and continually improving its grounds and facilities.
Located in Chadron, Nebraska, Camp Norwesca sits within the Nebraska National Forest and is surrounded by the beauty of nature. Offering a Christian community catering to children from all religious backgrounds, the camp also provides a safe place to actively discuss their faith and spirituality and enjoy participating in various activities, like horseback riding, swimming, camping, and more.
Passionate about her profession, Mrs. May grew up with an affinity for summer camps. During her youth, she attended Camp Carol Joy Holling. She also developed her love for God and the outdoors and has maintained her enthusiasm in her adult life. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. May completed high school and studied locally, graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
Active in her professional field, Mrs. May is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association and the American Camping Association.
