During the early stages of his career, Mr. PeKarna gained valuable expertise in the field as an assistant instructor alongside such educators as Chad Hanks, Jackie Santos, Yogev Gabay, and Victor Wooten until earning his bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music in 2018. He has received recognition of his professional achievements by the Minnesota Music Educators Association and the Association for Popular Music Education, and his students have received multiple accolades for outstanding performances.
While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his work at the Performing Institute of Minnesota's Arts High School, establishing a unique teaching style which fosters personal growth through musicianship, and watching his students perform on such historic stages as Prince's Paisley Park. In the coming years, Mr. PeKarna aims to fully realize a truly contemporary music program at PiM Arts High, and to partner with the MMEA and APME to empower his fellow music educators to offer contemporary music classes in their own programs.
