John A. O'Grady (U.S. Army, COL, Ret.) Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

After a decorated military career, John O'Grady continues to serve in the private sector

    ROUND ROCK, TX, January 15, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John A. O'Grady has been included in Marquis Who's Who. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Mr. O'Grady went on to build an impressive career in the United States Army, rising to the rank to the rank of Colonel serving as an officer for 30 years. Over the course of his deployments, once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan, he became a decorated combat veteran and gained leadership experience commanding at every level, from platoon to brigade. Twice, he was awarded the Bronze Start for acts of heroism in combat and for the more than 500-person organization he commanded in Afghanistan, they were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for outstanding performance and heroism in the face of an armed enemy.

Following his deployment, Mr. O'Grady held multiple assignments in the United States as well as Europe and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He served as a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and as a senior advisor to multiple executive leaders. Moreover, he managed a portfolio worth more than $14 billion, ensuring strategic outcomes were met for the United States Army. Thereafter, Mr. O'Grady retired as a colonel and started his own consulting business, Leadership Advisory business, to apply and share his leadership experience and skill set with others.

Leading up to his entrepreneurial venture, Mr. O'Grady took every opportunity to formally study leadership. Drawing from his leadership experience in the army and marrying that with his interest in sports, being a former division one athlete, he now advises leaders in multiple sectors, including, but not limited to, athletic coaches, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists. Not only does he help leaders and their teams become great, but he helps them build an organizational culture that is sustainable, thrives in any environment, and can sustain the inevitable challenges of a complex environment.

In addition to his consulting work, Mr. O'Grady is employed by Raytheon, the largest defense aerospace company in the world, where he serves as both the Director of Strategic Regional Engagement and Army Modernization and contributes to multiple nonprofit and advisory boards. At Raytheon, he is responsible for developing relationships with academia, investors, government agencies and businesses as well as understanding the capability and needs of Army Futures Command in support of the army and joint modernization efforts. He ensures the Army Futures Command has a clear understanding of what the industry can provide to help support their mission ranging across a broad portfolio of air and missile defense systems, long range precision weapons, radars, command and control systems and advanced technologies.

In all Mr. O'Grady accomplished in the army and thereafter in his professional and personal endeavors and pursuits, he attributes his success to his interpersonal abilities and his desire to keep learning. He holds a bachelor's degree in, leadership from the United States Military Academy at West Point along with two master's degrees, a Master of Business Administration in military and strategic leadership from Touro University and a Master of National Security and Resource Management from the National Defense University. Furthermore, he attended the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and has earned numerous certifications from both Harvard and Columbia, along with his degrees from both.

Alongside his career, Mr. O'Grady serves on multiple boards, including Soldiers to Sidelines, the National Security Innovation Council, Texas A&M Innovation Committee and the National Defense Association. In addition, he has held membership with the prestigious Forbes Coaches Council since 2020 and is a Sir Knight through the Knights of Columbus, among other memberships and organizational involvements. In 2023, John was inducted into his high school's Hall of Fame for a lifetime of selfless service. Looking forward, Mr. O'Grady's aim is to continue to develop continue to serve.
