Dr. Singh is an experimental researcher in pathology, and an immunopathology expert and faculty member at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. Affiliated with the university's Medical College of Georgia, he has been active as the director of clinical pathology, the Walter L. Shepeard chair of clinical pathology since 2014, and as the vice chair of clinical affairs and pathology since 2016.

Throughout his distinguished 50-year professional tenure, Dr. Singh taught and mentored undergraduate students and residents in his specialty. In addition to his work in Augusta, he has been affiliated with the University of Missouri-Kansas and the University of Pittsburgh. Moreover, Dr. Singh has held various medical roles at Heritage Lab Services, the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, and, most notably, was the chief medical officer for the Veterans Integrated Network 4 overseeing 10 hospitals throughout the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia.

In recognition of his accomplishments in academia and research, Dr. Singh acquired federal funding for over 15 grants. His most notable achievements include discovery of two novel genes in the lung, essential for respiratory function. He identified a sub-type of multiple myeloma and defined its biological importance and diagnostic criteria. As a seasoned researcher, Dr. Singh has contributed his findings to various professional medical journals. Additionally, Dr. Singh is active on the editorial board for the Physician Leadership Journal and is a reviewer for 37 journals in Medicine and Health Sciences. He has also been a reviewer for 16 granting and other professional organizations.

Looking toward future goals, Dr. Singh aims to continue conducting clinical research on multiple myeloma and provide information that can help improve treatment. He is also considering writing a book about the culture of the state of The Punjab, India, where he grew up.
Civically engaged, Dr. Singh taught Punjabi for Americans and was a pathology consultant for HealthTap Inc., a nationwide virtual primary care clinic. He also sponsors the Medical School Scholarship Fund at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh, was a scholarship sponsor for the Khalsa College for Women, and was a trustee for the Sikh Temple in Pittsburgh for over 25 years. Dr. Singh also generously donates _10% of his income to his local place of worship and other charitable organizations, including SikhNet in Española, NM.

Highly educated, Dr. Singh received a Doctor of Medicine from the Armed Forces Medical College in 1972, and was awarded the Kalinga Trophy for being the best graduate. He completed an internship and house officership at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in 1973, and initiated a residency in pathology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at the Beth Israel Medical Center in 1973. Dr. Singh subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in experimental pathology and completed his residency in pathology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1977 and 1978, respectively. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh, and induction into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society in 1998. He has garnered medical licenses in Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California and has been board-certified in clinical and anatomic pathology and in immunopathology through the American Board of Pathology. He is also certified as a physician executive.

Affiliated with numerous professional organizations as a testament to his dedication to the medical field, Dr. Singh is active with the American Association of Blood Banking, the American Society for Investigative Pathology, the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists, the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, and, among others, the U.S. and Canadian Academy of Pathology in various roles. Additionally, Dr. Singh was elected as a fellow of the College of American Pathologists, served as a State Commissioner for the College of American Pathologists and served as the chair of the southeast chapter of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry in 2023. In his career-related endeavors, Dr. Singh has published over 170 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to various book chapters and scholarly publications.

In light of his success, Dr. Singh has earned numerous accolades, including national recognition ranked as the Number One Doctor by HealthTap Inc. between 2012 and 2022 and as the Most Influential Doctor in Missouri, and Georgia, in the Top Doctor Competition by HealthTap Inc. every year between 2013 and 2018. Among other awards, he received a Faculty Recognition Award from the department of pathology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in 2017, an Applause Award from the Truman Medical Center Hospital Hill (now University Health) in 2012, and a Silver Star Award from the National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in 2005. He takes special pleasure in facilitating the matriculation of seven of his students to medical school.
