Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in early intervention, working with children and young adults with severe autism and other behavioral related disorders, Ms. Coon has earned distinction as a board-certified behavior analyst. She has focused her efforts on working with clients between the ages of 2 to 28 years old, with particular passion for working with children between the ages of two and six years old and providing guidance to their families. Additionally, she is a valued member of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis (FABA), the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), and previously the Maryland Association for Behavior Analysis (MABA), and the Berkshire Association of Behavior Analysis (BABAT).
In her early career, Ms. Coon worked as a lead tutor for Private Behavioral Tutoring in 2011 until becoming a level two counselor with The New England Center for Children in 2012. She spent a year at the Mohammad bin Rashid Center for Special Education Operated by The New England Center for Children in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She returned to Massachusetts, and was promoted to lead shift manager and clinical assistant for the staff intensive unit in 2016, then to a residential coordinator in 2017 and to a residential and administrative coordinator in 2018. She continued her career as a behavior support team training specialist for Eden Prairie Schools district in Minnesota in 2020, providing services for clients in crisis, supporting classrooms and collaborating with the administration within the district.
Notably, Ms. Coon was instrumental in identifying the proper placement recommendations and treatment plans to best suit each client within Eden Prairie Schools, ensuring that they received the care they needed to thrive. During this period, she then returned to The New England Center for Children to served as an adult counselor. In 2021, she took a role as a clinical supervisor for BlueSprig, then was a supervising behavior analyst for Little Leaves Behavioral Services. In 2022 she served as a BCBA with Virtus Behavioral Health in North Port and Port Charlotte Florida.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Coon earned a Bachelor of Science in philosophy and psychology, focused in applied behavioral analysis, in 2011, from Western Michigan University. Following these achievements, she attained a Master of Science in applied behavior analysis from Western New England University in 2020. Well-qualified in her field, she was a licensed behavior analyst with the Virginia Department of Health and is a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). She is also certified in crisis prevention intervention (CPI), CPR and first aid, and in crisis prevention and de-escalation (CALM-P®) by The New England Center for Children.
Within the coming years, Ms. Coon intends to attain her PhD in behavior analysis, then begin to build an international consulting company, not driven by monetary gain but rather focused on serving children and families residing in marginalized and underserved communities. Having travelled extensively around the world, she has had the privilege of meeting several remarkable individuals and aims to provide her stellar services in their communities.
