Marquis Who's Who Selects Robert George Andosca, PhD, for Excellence in Self-powered Wearable and "Internet of Things' Technologies

Dr. Robert George Andosca is lauded for his work as the founder of INVIZA® Health

Dr. Andosca holds twenty-five (25) U.S. and international patents with many more are pending in his field, most notably piezo-MEMS energy harvester and sensor designs.

CAMBRIDGE, MA, January 23, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert George Andosca, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Dr. Andosca is an expert in piezoelectric MicroElectroMechanical Systems (piezo-MEMS) technology and the founder, president, chief executive officer, and chief technical officer at INVIZA® Health invizahealth.ai, an artificial intelligence (AI) based remote patient/personnel monitoring (RPM) and digital therapeutics (DTx) platform company, since May 2020. Based in Cambridge (Greater Boston area), Massachusetts, his company developed a comprehensive solution called INVIZA® CARE M1.0 to serve the military to detect when a warfighter is becoming ill, such that the individual or more can be isolated from the rest of the troops. In addition, the military personnel's performance or physical fitness will be tracked daily while providing DTx actionable insights to encourage each person to remain fit all year long.

Secondarily, the INVIZA® CARE 1.0 platform can be used by commercial hospitals seeking to monitor patients' vital signs at home (a.k.a. Hospital-at-Home "HaH") after being discharged from acute hospitalized care (for instance heart attack, heart failure, COPD, pneumonia, coronary artery bypass graft "CABG" surgery, and hip or knee surgery). The platform will be utilized to minimize post-acute care patients being readmitted to the hospital within 30 days. This can save U.S. hospitals $350M to $535M annually from fines levied by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for readmittance. The clinically/highly accurate RPM/DTx AI-based platform also includes INVIZA® SOLE 1.0 smart insoles with SmartPower™ a step-based energy harvesting battery recharging system; hence the more a person/patient walks the faster they can recover from their acute-care and healthier and fitter they can become all while the wearable's battery is recharged. The smart RPM insoles also include embedded machine-learning (ML) algorithms for vital sign sensor measurement accuracy, cyber security, and to minimize the internal wireless sensor electronics platform's power consumption on the rechargeable battery.

Besides his work with INVIZA®, Dr. Andosca has been a principal consultant for YETI SEMI LLC since 2018 and an advisory board member and consultant for GP Plasma since 2021. He has also been an adjunct professor of mechanical engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology since 2017. Throughout his career, Dr. Andosca has held numerous roles at the C-level, director level and in management, project management, research and development, and other capacities. He also co-founded microGen Systems Inc., a piezo-MEMS vibration energy harvesting (pVEH) component company based in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Andosca holds twenty-five (25) U.S. and international patents with many more are pending in his field, most notably piezo-MEMS energy harvester and sensor designs. He has given several Keynote addresses over the past decade at various conferences, including the Medical Wearables conference in December 2023, the Society of Vacuum Coaters' TechCon 2019 conference, and Techno Frontiers 2014 conference in Tokyo, Japan. Furthermore, Dr. Andosca has been an invited speaker and presenter at several other conferences on various topics and was the conference co-chair, keynote speaker, and wearable tech panel moderator at MANCEF's COMS WORLD 2020 conference focused on digital health that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Active in his community, Dr. Andosca has been involved as a mentor for FIRST Robotics in Fairport, NY. He has also been active as an assistant troop leader for the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts of America and as a parent leader of the Mallets Bay Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.

Highly educated, Dr. Andosca earned a diploma from Nashua High School (South) in 1985, a Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics with a minor in chemistry from Keene State College in 1989, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in materials science from the University of Vermont in 1992 and 2012, respectively. Dr. Andosca also received a multitude of certifications, including from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovation-Corps and in Program Management Principles and Practices, Microsystems, and more.

As part of his continued commitments to his industry, Dr. Andosca is a member of the energy harvesting committee of the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) and an executive director of the management board and chair of the strategic operations board for MANCEF. He is also affiliated with the American Physical Society, the Materials Research Society, the Society of Vacuum Coaters, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and MEMS and Sensors Industry Group.

Considering his success, Dr. Andosca has been the recipient of numerous awards. Dr. Andosca was recently invited to be a member of the Forbes Technology Council in December 2023. He was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame by the University of Vermont in 2015. Dr. Andosca's company, MicroGen was recognized by SEMI's MEMS & Sensor Executive Congress (MSEC) as runner-up Start-Up of the Year and with the Engineering Team of the Year award at the Sensors Expo in 2014. Among numerous other accolades, Dr. Andosca's company was recognized among EE Times' Silicon 60 from 2013-16 and as one of the 25 Hottest Silicon Valley Startups (while located in Rochester, NY) in by Quora.com in 2014.
