With more than four decades of excellence in research and strategic planning, Ms. André has earned distinction as the owner of André Associates, which she opened in 1987. There she focuses her efforts on research and planning, creating strategic plans based on thorough research and marketing studies across major markets of the world. She and her team work across industries, but with a specialty in the high technology and healthcare industries.
Clients have included international companies such as Apple, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, National Semiconductor, and Adventist Health, San Francisco General Hospital, Cedars-Sinai, and Harlem Hospital, and they have done occasional work with start-ups, but specialized in "around the world" work for larger companies. They also did work for banks such as Union Bank of California and Bank of America.
Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, Ms. André sits on the Board of Directors of local charitable organizations, including serving as Board Chair of Coastal Seniors, which sponsors Meals on Wheels, local transportation for errands. and doctor or hospital visits in and out of town, a local food bank, client visits, lunches and other activities for seniors and those with disabilities. Their territory runs along 65 miles of California coastline from Irish Beach, just below Mendocino, down to Timber Cove and inland 20 miles or so and Carolyn serves the same territory as a Board member of Coast Life Support District, providing ambulance services with paramedics and EMTs, and training for EMTs and others involved in emergency medical services (EMS), as well as life-saving training for the general population and students.
Before establishing her company, Ms. André worked for the Federal government evaluating developmental disabilities programs for the state of Wisconsin, spent several years at the UC San Diego Department of Community Medicine working in research and then served as a research manager for the RAND Corporation also in health care. She then switched gears and moved into advertising at BBDO New York, where she worked on updating and creating new proprietary research techniques and new business approaches for the organization and then moved on to BBDO West (San Francisco and LA), where she became Senior Vice President for Marketing and Research Services and new business. In that position she also had responsibilities for similar activities in Canada, Mexico, Latin America and other areas. Before leaving BBDO she founded a business-to-business high tech advertising agency, Tycer Fultz, Bellack, which BBDO West acquired (TFB BBDO). When she left BBDO to open André Associates, she agreed to become Consulting Research and Planning Director for TFB BBDO and did that for five years until her travel schedule became too full to continue.
While in the Bay Area Ms. André served on Boards which included The World Affairs Council and Brush Dance, as well as some start-ups.
