Beginning her professional career over 12 years ago, Ms. Malak joined Hyman Lippitt PC in Birmingham, Michigan, as an associate attorney after clerking for the firm from 2009 to 2012. She subsequently established the Law Offices of April Malak and Associates in 2012 and represented businesses and individuals in general litigation matters. She later worked at Hewson & Van Hellemont, PC and Vandeveer Garzia, PC, before becoming an equity shareholder at Kitch Attorneys & Counselors, PC.
As a dedicated civil advocate, Ms. Malak and her husband, Justin Pollard, Esq. also advocate for pediatric cancer through collaboration with various foundations. She recently spoke in Washington, D.C., and plans to continue her pediatric cancer advocacy to help raise awareness, research, funding, and increased accessibility to families and patients fighting pediatric cancer. Besides these contributions, Ms. Malak has participated in outreach programs with the Detroit Bar Association, speaking to high school students about the legal profession.
In preparation for her career in law, Ms. Malak received a Bachelor of Science in business management from Oakland University in 2006 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2010. She is active in the Macomb County Bar Association and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Before earning her degrees, Ms. Malak began working as a receptionist for a law firm at the age of 15. She later garnered success and experience as a paralegal. Ms. Malak quickly developed a passion for animal law and domestic violence advocacy, working with children through the juvenile detention center before pivoting into no-fault litigation.
Ms. Malak credits her professional accomplishments to her husband and family. Ms. Malak also notes her strong work ethic, perseverance, and dedication to success.
