Mercaldo is actively involved in his client churches' staff recruitment, particularly in the areas of music and arts personnel.
Rev. Mercaldo brings ample applied experience to his current leadership roles, including work as an Associate Pastor in Staten Island, NY from 1986 to 2019 and as a Senior Pastor for Gateway Church between 2015 and 2019, as well as assisting in a church plant in Naples, Florida 2021-2022. Additionally, in 2004, he founded the Gateway Community Outreach, leading the 501(c)(3) organization, whose mission was to inspire the Greater New York area through sports, arts and education, as the acting chief executive officer through 2019. Rev. Mercaldo has pursued higher education across distinct platforms, including the completion of coursework in history at The King's College, New York, and in philosophical apologetics at Liberty University. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts in theology with a minor in koine Greek at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Rev. Mercaldo has most recently received a master's degree in Worship Studies and Organizational Leadership at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Civic service remains of critical importance to Rev. Mercaldo. He collaborated often as a networker, musician, speaker and activist with the Rotary International District 7230 from 2007 to 2019. Among the community activities in which he engaged, he ran three marathons in order to raise awareness and funds for the worthy Rotary cause of "End Polio Now" Not surprisingly, he was given the nickname, The Running Rev., which he still utilizes today as one of his Facebook pages. Moreover, Rev. Mercaldo has sustained a critical association with The Union League Club of Manhattan, New York since 2018 as a clergy member.
Rev. Mercaldo is gratified to reach constituents through music, and he is a seasoned church musician proficient in both vocals and piano. Notably, he has published two Christmas recordings, which are disseminated on media platforms including Spotify and YouTube. Additionally, Rev. Mercaldo is grateful to have received recognition from his local church and unity organizations within church denominations for his diverse contributions.
Rev. Mercaldo attributes his many successes in personal, academic and professional contexts, as well as in his ministry, to those who have encouraged and mentored him over the years. He is particularly thankful for a lasting, loving relationship with his wife of 37 years, AnnMarie, and of his reputation as a minister—a servant career he initiated alongside his father, a founding pastor in Staten Island, New York. As a father of four "little women" and ten grandchildren so far, Rev. Mercaldo is committed as never before to influencing the next generation of those who will impact our broken world for good. Committed to lifelong learning, he plans to pursue a terminal degree in his field of study and looks forward to expanding Worship Plus by inviting additional associates to join the mission. Ultimately, he will also further explore his aspirations to run for political office toward making a productive impact on the American Body Politic.
