MONROE, LA, February 19, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Edward King has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2011, Mr. King has served as program coordinator and associate professor of aviation and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) management in the Aviation/UAS Management program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Leading up to his current role, he began his career by gaining field experience during a series of summer positions, from 1978 to 1981, at Northrop Worldwide Aircraft Services at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK, during which time he was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in professional aviation, with a minor in English, from Louisiana Tech University, which he earned in 1982. Following graduation, Mr. King worked as a certified flight instructor, charter pilot, and ground instructor for Southern Aviation Corporation in Shreveport, LA holding both low altitude and banner towing waivers as well.

For the next several years thereafter, Mr. King continued to apply his expertise as a certified flight instructor and chief ground instructor at the former Arkansas West Airlines; Cam-Air International Flight Training, now Comair Co.; and Bolivar Aviation International School of Aeronautics. After over five years focusing his efforts as an FAA Gold Seal flight instructor, he applied his skill set as an air traffic control specialist, studying at the Federal Aviation Administration's Academy at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Mr. King's time teaching in the field continued in 1990, when he stepped into the role of assistant chief flight instructor at Louisiana Tech University.

After five years teaching, during which time Mr. King was honored as the recipient of the 1993 Governor's Award, given by the State of Louisiana's Executive Department, he began instructing at the university level at Northwestern State University. Beginning in 1996, he held the titles of department head and associate professor of aviation and simultaneously continued to impart his knowledge as a chief flight instructor. Moreover, during his first year in academia, Mr. King earned an additional degree for himself: a Master of Arts in industrial/organizational psychology from Louisiana Tech University.

Following 15 years at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Mr. King moved to the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2011, where he continues to teach today. Along with his degrees and seasoned career experience, Mr. King holds numerous field and position specific certifications granted by the Federal Aviation Administration, including a certificate in remote pilot-small unmanned aircraft system among others. Furthermore, he holds a restricted radiotelephone operator permit via the Federal Communications Commission and continually renews a training certificate from the Transportation Security Administration's homeland security awareness training.

Outside of his professional responsibilities and positions over the years, Mr. King has served as a faculty advisor at both Northwestern State University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe's Flight Team and Alpha Eta Rho international aviation fraternity. He has taken two teams to national competition within the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) while competing in numerous regional competitions. Additionally, he is a member of The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, where he is a compatriot. In reflecting on his career overall, Mr. King cites his most notable achievement as educating students in the field of aviation and attributes his success to the foundational education he received himself at the Jesuit high school he attended. While he continues to enjoy teaching, he also enjoys big bore target shooting and outdoor motocross.
