Dr. Rense secured a distinguished reputation as an educator and geographer through his tenure at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where he taught from 1980 through his retirement in 2004. After teaching for several years at the University of Louisianna at Lafayette he accepted a position at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. Nurturing a deep interest in physical geography and hydrology, Dr. Rense would specifically pursue climatology in college. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and subsequently graduated with a PhD in physical geography from Oregon State University. Notably, Dr. Rense cites completion of the terminal degree as a significant achievement.
