Renowned for his expertise in public policy and law, he focuses on congressional and high-profile criminal and legislative investigations. As a member of the public policy and law practice group, Mr. Wright provides invaluable guidance to clients navigating the complexities of congressional investigations, executive branch compliance, and government enforcement actions. His proficiency extends to anti-bribery and anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, the federal, state, and local False Claims Act, internal investigations, and white-collar crime, defense, and investigations, among other areas.

In addition to his responsibilities at his firm, Mr. Wright has served as a senior fellow and founding editor at Just Security, an independent online forum, since 2018. His career trajectory has also been marked by several significant milestones that reflect his dedication to public service and legal excellence, including former appointments as the director of legal policy for the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition from 2020 to 2021. Mr. Wright's previous tenure at K&L Gates as a partner from 2019 to 2020 was preceded by an academic role as an associate professor at Savannah Law School between 2012 and 2018. Furthermore, he held esteemed positions within the U.S. government, including as an associate counsel to the president at The White House from 2011 to 2012, as a staff director for the subcommittee on national security, committee on oversight, in the U.S. House of Representatives between 2009 and 2011, and as a counsel for the subcommittee on national security, committee on oversight and government form, in the U.S. House Representatives from 2007 to 2009.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Wright was in private practice as a litigation associate at Jackson Kelly PLLC with concurrent adjunct law faculty responsibilities at West Virginia University. He also garnered expertise as a litigation associate at Skadden Arps. Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Wright was a general counsel for the Gore Transition Office, an assistant counsel in the Office of the Vice President of the U.S., an Oregon youth field coordinator for Clinton Gore, and a staff assistant to the chief of staff in the Office of the Vice President, dating to 1995. Throughout his distinguished tenure in law, Mr. Wright's most remarkable accomplishment was representing George Kent during the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, who now serves as the U.S. Ambassador to Estonia.

Mr. Wright has been active civically as a congressional oversight staff trainer for the Levin Center at Wayne Law, a consultative group member of the government ethics project at the American Law Institute, and a Truman-Albright fellows program mentor for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. He is also an elected fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the New York University School of Law. Furthermore, Mr. Wright offers his services pro bono to those in need, contributes to a local food pantry through his law firm, and is active in his church.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Wright obtained a Bachelor of Arts in politics from Washington and Lee University in 1995 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia in 2000. During his college tenure, he received a Harry S. Truman Scholarship and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma Alpha, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He also completed two White House internships and one with the House of Representatives. Mr. Wright has been admitted to practice by the D.C. Bar Association, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.

As a dedicated professional, Mr. Wright remains a prominent member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Constitution Society, and the American Law Institute.

In recognition of his contributions to his field, Mr. Wright was named the Adjunct Professor of the Year by West Virginia University in 2004 and the Professor of the Year by Savannah Law School in 2017. He was also recognized by The Legal 500 United States as a Recommended Lawyer for Dispute Resolution in Corporate Investigations and White-Collar Criminal Defense in 2023 and by Chambers USA for Government Relations and Congressional Investigations Nationwide in 2023.
