Bonnie Payne Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Nursing

Bonnie Payne lends years of expertise to her work with Bon Secour Mercy Health

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Payne takes the most pride in discovering a treatment for atrial fibrillation, a condition that can result in a stroke and affect anyone.

WARREN, OH, March 26, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bonnie Payne has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Inspired by her parents, Ms. Payne pursued a career in the healthcare field. After starting her career with Bon Secour Mercy Hospital as a registered nurse, she gained valuable expertise in various aspects of healthcare, including case management, chart review coordination, charge nursing, and more with such institutions as St. Elizabeth Hospital, Jameson Hospital, and Franklin Memorial Hospital. In the ensuing years, she worked in the same role with UPMC Jameson, where she developed a keen interest in quality management that she carried with her upon her return to Bon Secour.

Before establishing herself as a trusted nursing professional, Ms. Payne earned a diploma in nursing from the Jameson School of Nursing. Subsequently, she expanded her knowledge by completing a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Penn State University. Alongside her work, she has contributed to her community through the Sisters of the Humility of Mary.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Payne takes the most pride in discovering a treatment for atrial fibrillation, a condition that can result in a stroke and affect anyone. Due to her own diagnosis of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, which she believes is caused by compression of the vagus nerve from the sternocleidomastoid and scalene muscles, she began researching. Stretching the muscles in the neck for 10 to 30 minutes can help reduce pressure on the vagus nerve and alleviate atrial fibrillation, a stretch that Ms. Payne calls the "Bonny Stretch."

Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Payne credits her success to the support of her spouse, who is a constant source of encouragement. Within the next five to ten years, she intends to bring more attention to the "Bonny Stretch," as she truly believes it will help others.
