    SILVER SPRING, MD, March 28, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda Waite Maurano, RN, BSN, MSN, CHPO, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Hailing from over 50 years of experience in pediatric and adult home care and hospice nursing and organizational management, Ms. Maurano has distinguished herself in her latest role as the chief of clinical operations at Capital Caring Health, a nonprofit hospice and palliative care organization that operates throughout the DC Metro region. In this capacity, she oversees the daily efforts of a multidisciplinary team that cares for over 1,200 patients across the entire service area. Over the course of her tenure in this role, which began in 2020, Ms. Maurano successfully addressed a shortage in qualified nurses by establishing a preceptorship and practice setting program for 12 universities and at all levels of higher education.

Having previously served as the vice president and executive vice president of clinical services at Capital Caring Health, Ms. Maurano is best noted for her extensive record of leadership in the field, encompassing for-profit chain home care, hospital-based nonprofit home care and hospice, free standing nonprofit hospices, and voluntary nursing. In addition to her current endeavors, she earned distinction as the executive director of Holy Cross Home Care and Hospice, and as the president and chief executive officer of the MedStar Health Visiting Nurse Association, which continues to provide home care services to over 22,000 patients throughout the DC Metro area. In this capacity, Ms. Maurano was lauded by the Washington Post as one of its Top 24 Female Executives in Washington, D.C., in 2004, and by the Woman's National Basketball Association as a leading role model to other women.

Prior to her work at MedStar, Ms. Maurano found success in various executive-level positions with the Children's National Medical Center from 1987 to 1993. As the Vice President /Executive Director of Child Venture's, Inc. Ms. Maurano created and lead a unique service which provided Children's Home Health, Hospice, DME, Infusion and private duty services which allowed over 200 children and their families daily to be served at home rather than in the hospital setting. During 1995-1997 she served as Adjunct Faculty at Catholic University School of Nursing and Georgetown School of Nursing. She initially rose to management-level roles at Upjohn HealthCare Services, where she began in 1976 as a nursing supervisor and rose in 1985 to become the district manager for New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. Ms. Maurano had previously served as a supervisor for the East Shore District Nursing Association and launched her career as a pediatric staff nurse in Providence at the Rhode Island Hospital in 1970.

Ms. Maurano first studied at Salve Regina University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1970 and, later, recognition as a Distinguished Alumna. She undertook her graduate studies in child psychiatric nursing at Boston University and went on to attend the Catholic University of America, from which she attained a Master of Science in Nursing, and inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing in 1981. During her career she has authored many articles on adult and pediatric home care and hospice, was a contributing author in W.B. Saunders Family Centered Care of Children, Second Edition Textbook and has lectured locally and nationally on these subjects. Eminently qualified in her field, she has been extensively certified in hospice operations, financial management, and adult and pediatric home care, hospice, and palliative care. Likewise, to remain aware of developments in the field, Ms. Maurano is a member of the Hospice and Palliative Care Network of Maryland and the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation and was a founding member of the District of Columbia Home Care Association. She has also contributed extensively to the Visiting Nurse Association of America as a member of its board of directors.

In accounting for her success, Ms. Maurano credits the guidance of various mentors she has had the pleasure to serve throughout her multifaceted career. While her professional journey has been filled with highlights, she is most proud to have always catered to the needs of her patients and their families during the most challenging periods of their lives. Looking toward the future, Ms. Maurano hopes to begin preparations for retirement, while ultimately aspiring to serve as a guiding influence on the next generation of nursing professionals.
