Prior to his current role, Dr. Thomasma served as the solutions architect at TEKsystems Inc. in Ann Arbor from 2022 to 2023. Prior to that, he served as a senior technical manager at HCL Technologies Limited in Troy from 2021 until 2022. Dr. Thomasma developed foundational skills as a solutions architect at TEKsystems Inc. in Taylor from 2019 to 2021, marking his introduction to the role. During his tenure at General Motors Company in Detroit from 2015 until 2019, he made significant strides as a senior connected ecosystem integration architect, particularly excelling in vehicle software management across the enterprise.

Dr. Thomasma also explored entrepreneurship through Jumpstart Ventures LLC in Lathrup Village from 2013 to 2015 and held a senior managerial position at Capgemini in Southfield from 2007 until 2013. His profound impact on manufacturing systems technology during his time at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn from 1998 to 2007 remains a highlight of his career. Additionally, he served as chairman of the customer council at Open Applications Group from 2001 to 2002.

In his early career, Dr. Thomasma served as a senior object technology consultant at IBM from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, he honed his skills as a manufacturing information systems technology expert at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn from 1993 to 1996. His tenure at Ford Ford Motor Company also included roles as a technical specialist from 1992 to 1996. Before joining Ford Ford Motor Company, Dr. Thomasma gained valuable experience as a senior software engineer at CDI Computer Services in Dearborn from 1992 until 1993.

Dr. Thomasma had an equally impressive academic career. He served as a tenured assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing systems engineering at the University of Michigan in Dearborn from 1990 to 1992, following his initial role as an assistant professor starting in 1984. Moreover, Dr. Thomasma contributed articles to professional journals and presented in the field, establishing his reputation as a respected academic.

Building upon his professional achievements, Dr. Thomasma's educational background laid the foundation for his success. He earned a PhD in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan in 1983 after completing a Master of Science in mathematics from the same institution in 1977. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, where he received the Rinck Memorial Award in 1976, preceded by a diploma from North Olmsted High School in Ohio.

Dr. Thomasma's professional journey is further distinguished by his former memberships with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. Moreover, his passion for community service is evident through his volunteer work with Voice of Calvary Ministries in Mississippi from 1982 to 1984. During this time, he leveraged computer-based learning systems to make tangible impacts within underserved communities. Additionally, his outstanding contributions were recognized through his appointment as a fellow of the DeVlieg Foundation in both 1981 and 1980.

Beyond his profession, Dr. Thomasma enjoys spending time with his spouse, Teresa Small, and their three children. Antwuan, their eldest son, works in bartending and event management at a casino; Michael, their second son, recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in business; and Christopher, their youngest, works at a Domino's Pizza store while also producing YouTube films centered around graphic novels and comic books. Driven by both professional ambition and personal connection — especially due to Christopher's employment at Domino's — Dr. Thomasma is dedicated to advancing technology within Domino's Pizza stores to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
