SARASOTA, FL, April 19, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sally Gabriel, PhD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Gabriel is a distinguished health and lifestyle coach and certified end-of-life doula with a profound commitment to supporting individuals through significant life transitions. With a doctorate in holistic nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health, she has developed a unique approach emphasizing emotional well-being as integral to physical health in her role as a certified health and lifestyle coach. In her other role, she owns Epilogue End of Life Care, providing compassionate companionship and non-medical support to those in the final stages of life. She is dedicated to building relationships with patients and their families, offering advance care and vigil planning and comfort, facilitating life review and legacy projects, and educating and guiding them through their life's final chapter.

Dr. Gabriel's expertise in health and lifestyle coaching, weight loss, and emotional eating issues is widely recognized. Since 2014, Dr. Gabriel has owned Second Act Weight Loss, assisting clients with weight and lifestyle challenges. Her holistic methods have successfully helped many people reframe their perspectives about weight and lifestyle. Before this, she was a health educator and consultant at Here's to Your Health Nutritional Services from 2001 to 2012.

She is an active member of several end-of-life doula industry-related organizations, including the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA), National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA), Florida End-of-Life Doula Association, and a co-founder of the Sarasota Area End-of-Life Doula Collective. She serves as the Secretary-Treasurer for the latter organization.

The foundation for Dr. Gabriel's varied career was laid early by her parents' encouragement and support for her education, which instilled the confidence she needed to explore diverse interests. That support allowed her to transition seamlessly across different careers – from psychology to finance to nutrition – before finding her calling as an end-of-life doula. Before her pivot to end-of-life care, Dr. Gabriel held several executive roles in the financial sector, including at ESL Federal Credit Union and M&T Bank, beginning in 1982. She had previously served as a financial analyst at Citicorp in New York City and Rochester from 1979 to 1981. She started her work life as a social worker in the field of elder care in Syracuse, NY, at an agency called Housing Service for the Aging in 1974.

Dr. Gabriel's educational background has been instrumental to her success. Initially studying psychology at Clark University and then Washington University in St. Louis, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1971, followed by a Master of Arts in psychology with a specialty in gerontology from Syracuse University in 1974. After working for four years, she returned to graduate school and received a Master of Business Administration in finance from Columbia University in 1979. Years later, following her transition to healthcare, Dr. Gabriel earned a Doctorate in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health in 2011. Dr. Gabriel is certified as a health and lifestyle coach by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and as an end-of-life doula by the Doulagivers Institute. Additionally, she has a Grief Education certification and an Advance Care Directive Preparation certification.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Gabriel enjoys a rich personal life filled with activities, such as reading, gym exercise, walking, continued learning, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, she is a former volunteer mentor for Take Stock in Children of Sarasota, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting low-income children in accessing higher educational opportunities, where she mentored six students between the years 2008 and 2021. She is currently a volunteer end-of-life doula with Tidewell/Empath Hospice in Sarasota.

Driven by a passion for service, she ultimately aims to expand the reach of end-of-life doula care through education and collaboration within her community. To that end, she is a co-founder of the Sarasota Area End-of-Life Doula Collective, a group of six end-of-life doulas who work together to educate the community about end-of-life doula care and provide their services to all who want them. Her vision includes establishing forums in her community where open conversations about death can occur. By empowering individuals with knowledge about advance care planning and the role of end-of-life doulas in providing support, she hopes to ensure that more people approach their final days without undue stress. Through these efforts, Dr. Gabriel continues to make an indelible impact on the lives she touches while advancing end-of-life care within the Sarasota area and beyond.
