Throughout his career, Mr. Baker has served clients as a leader on notable high-profile assignments to include the Alameda Corridor rail project in California, the University of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, the Gerald Desmond Bridge reconstruction in California, the Central Artery Tunnel in Massachusetts, and hundreds of other projects with an aggregate construction value totaling billions of dollars.
Prior to his founding role at HKA, Mr. Baker crafted expertise in construction through executive and professional roles with Hill International, Exponent, Trauner Consulting Services, Snyder Langston Builders, Marriott International, CM/CRSS, and Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. In sharing the breadth and depth of his considerable experience and knowledge, Mr. Baker has published ten professional articles such as "Standard of Care Applied to Contractors" and "Paperless, Wireless Construction" in industry publications. Mr. Baker has also been a featured speaker at dozens of industry conferences and events including the Annual Owner's Conference at the Construction Management Association of America and the Associated General Contractors Annual Conference. An expert in his field, Mr. Baker earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Honors from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Broadening his technical skill set with business expertise, he subsequently earned an MBA with Highest Honors, from the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. Mr. Baker is a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado and a Licensed General Contractor in California. A life-long learner driven to remain abreast of changes in an ever-evolving field, Mr. Baker is a Fellow in the Project Management College of Scheduling. He was co-founder of the Pacific Regional Chapter of the Design Build Institute of America, and he supports through membership several other industry organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Construction Management Association of America. Mr. Baker was also one of three founders of the industry professional's social organization, the 63 Club of Massachusetts.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Baker notes his founding Partner role at HKA as the pinnacle of his professional endeavors. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to taking on management positions in the early years, allowing him to develop and sharpen his leadership and people skills. Looking to the future, Mr. Baker aims to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary in 2041 with his beloved wife, Lynne, and shared with Matthew, Joeshua, and Daniel, the couple's three cherished sons.
