As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 1999, Mr. McDonnell has thrived as the chief executive officer of Liberty Lighthouse Group LLP, where he has been instrumental in supporting brand companies in established brands throughout Asia-Pacific and European distribution channels. In his role, he provides brand management, development and distribution services for companies in the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia-Pacific and European markets. Under Liberty Lighthouse Group, Mr. McDonnell also opened a regional warehousing company, Wayzata Holdings in Singapore, between 2004 and 2017. Additionally, numerous key brands under Liberty Lighthouse Group established international presences, including Patron Spirits from 2004 to 2012, and designed international regional hubs in several Germany, Dubai and Miami warehouses.

From 1987 to 1990, he was an entry-level salesman in Australia, selling wines and spirits in the Sydney suburbs before becoming the national marketing manager for international and local white spirits. During his tenure, he successfully introduced Schlitz Beer, a ready-to-drink (RTD) tequila and orange beverage that became the third best-selling RTD within one year.

In 1990, Mr. McDonnell was promoted to Hong Kong as the Asia-Pacific duty-free marketing director for French wines and spirits. From 1993 to 1994, he took on a Micronesia and Marianas regional directorship, achieving significant growth for Seagram's Asia-Pacific market.

Subsequently, he served as the marketing director in Asia-Pacific for Chivas Brothers Limited, developing marketing and sales programs within Seagram's & Sons network of companies between 1994 and 1996. From 1995 to 2017, Mr. McDonnell served on the board of directors of Premier Wines and Spirits Global. In the Philippines, he was the vice president of marketing and sales for Premier Wines and Spirits. Impressively, during this period, he managed the largest Philippine national distribution for wine and spirits.

Mr. McDonnell's first brand company under Liberty Lighthouse Group was McCormick Distillery. In 2004, the Patron Spirits Company approached him to establish an international presence and global warehousing and distribution. Additionally, Mr. McDonnell introduced many spirits brands to international markets on behalf of Compass Box Whisky, Casa Noble Tequila, La Fee Absinth, Porfidio Tequila, Flor de Cana, Sagatiba Cachaca, Kah Tequila and Mexicali Brewery. While warehousing Casa Noble Tequila, Liberty Lighthouse Group was proud to be the first to establish Silver and Reposado 100% tequila as a Chinese distributor. In 2010, Casa Noble was the first 100% tequila legally shipped and sold before the China trade agreement with Mexico in May 2013.

Mr. McDonnell also collaborated with La Cofradia Distillery and artist Kim Brandi for their 100% blue agave tequilas, Sangre de Vida, a special tequila and tiki-aged rum, including Dead Head and Monkey Rums. Likewise, during its tenure with La Fee, Absinths became the number one selling brand in Asia-Pacific countries.

Mr. McDonnell completed coursework in international business, trade and commerce at INSEAD in 1990. Previously, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and media studies from Franklin Pierce University in 1985 after graduating from Wayzata High School in Minnesota in 1980. His earlier education included general studies at The American School in London from 1975 to 1979 and coursework at Escola Maria Imaculada in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 1968 to 1975. Mr. McDonnell also contributed to publications, such as "Ted's Vietnam Adventure—Part Two" and "Vietnam and Chivas Regal: A Salesman's Story," both featured on Booze Business in 2017.

In his personal life, Mr. McDonnell was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but spent much of his early life living abroad due to his father's early career with Raytheon and General Foods. This global upbringing influenced his extensive career in international business and marketing within the beverage industry. Looking ahead, he is completing a photography book about Tiburon and Belvedere, California. He plans on continuing his spirits consultancy and remains committed to mentoring young professionals about their career goals.
