His role encompasses patient care, administrative duties, quality oversight and the development of intellectual property that propels the business forward. Dr. Cassidy's career is marked by significant milestones. Prior to establishing Nexus Health Systems, he co-founded the neuropsychiatry program at McLean Hospital, where he served as the psychiatrist in charge. He also founded the Neurobehavioral Institute of Houston as its chief medical officer and director. His expertise further extended to Del Oro Rehabilitation Hospital, where he established the neuropsychiatry subspecialty services. In addition, he held the position of medical director of neurobehavioral programs at Cypress Creek Hospital and contributed to the rehabilitation and psychiatric division at National Medical Enterprises as well as the traumatic brain injury program at HCA.

Laying a strong foundation for Dr. Cassidy's professional achievements was his academic journey. He graduated with summa cum laude distinction and departmental honors from Hiram College in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and sciences and liberal studies. He subsequently earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1980. Furthering his education, he completed specialty medical training in neurology and psychiatry at Harvard University and fulfilled his psychiatry residency at Harvard Medical School in 1984. He also engaged in executive training for chief executive officers at Rice University in 1985.

Throughout his career, Dr. Cassidy has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Merck Award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical Education and the Mental Health America of Ohio Award for Exceptional Achievement on Psychiatrically Oriented Studies. He has been acknowledged as one of the top psychiatrists in Houston and received a national award from the governor of Texas for his work in patient care management for individuals with disabilities. His publications include "Mindstorms: The Complete Guide for Families Living with Traumatic Brain Injury" and "Neurologic Rehabilitation: A Guide to Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Treatment Planning," among several other scholarly contributions.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Cassidy is actively involved in various organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association as a life fellow, the Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society, and he also serves on the board of the Houston Symphony. Additionally, he is a national council member at McLean Hospital. His civic contributions include being a donor to Hiram College, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, McLean Hospital and his church.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Cassidy attributes his success to commitment to perseverance and the guidance from exceptional mentors. He takes immense pride in his family, particularly his daughter who serves as the president of Nexus Health Systems.
