NORWALK, IOWA, January 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeanine P. Abrons, PharmD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Abrons is an esteemed global health and underserved care professional dedicated to advancing health care access and education. As the senior co-director at the University of Iowa since 2023, she trains students in health care practices, conducts research for publication, manages program operations and collaborates with students and practitioners to meet community needs. She also spearheads advocacies, policy toolkits and change management structures.

Affiliated with the institution for over a decade, Dr. Abrons also serves as the director of student pharmacist international activities in the college of pharmacy since 2017, co-director of the University of Iowa Mobile Clinics since 2017 and clinical associate professor in the college of pharmacy since 2019. Apart from her work on campus, she has owned her own consultancy, Travel Medica, since 2011.

Besides her full-time commitments, Dr. Abrons has been a health outreach consultant for the Jungle Bay Community Fund since 2008. She has also served as a Fulbright committee adviser at the University of Iowa since 2018 and as an experiential education advisory board member at Gulf Medical University since 2022.

Dr. Abrons's first faculty appointment at the University of Iowa was as a research scientist from 2011 to 2013. She then became visiting assistant professor in the college of dentistry, assistant professor in the college of dentistry, adjunct professor in the college of dentistry and dental clinics and assistant professor in the college of pharmacy between 2011 and 2019. Earlier in her career, Dr. Abrons taught as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences from 2008 to 2010, worked in the field as a pharmacist at Select Medical Corporation in 2007, was a teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while pursuing her master's degree between 2005 and 2007 and a per diem pharmacist at Target Pharmacy from 2004 to 2007.

In preparation for her career, Dr. Abrons received a Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University in 2004, followed by a Master of Science in social and administrative sciences in 2007 and a second Master of Science in health professions and related clinical sciences in 2008 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She furthered her education with coursework in entrepreneurial studies at the University of Iowa in 2016. Apart from her degrees, Dr. Abrons holds several certifications, including as a pharmacy Spanish specialist from PharmCon freeCE in 2022 and train-the-trainer credentials through the National Coalition Building Institute in 2023.

In addition to her professional roles, Dr. Abrons is actively involved in various industry-related organizations, including as a member of the International Pharmacy Federation and as an elected fellow of the American Pharmacists Association. She has also served in various editorial roles for scholarly journals, currently as an editorial advisory board member for Pharmacy Times since 2023. Moreover, she has been writing for the Pharmacists Peripheral Brain since 2016. Besides these professional endeavors, Dr. Abrons has been active civically as a founding member of the Women's Leadership Board since 2019, where she continues to advocate for leadership development among women.

Dr. Abrons's career is marked by numerous accolades, including the prestigious Pinnacle Award for Career Achievement from the American Pharmacists Association and a Teacher of the Year from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She also received the State of Iowa Immunization Champion Award and the Diversity Catalyst Award from the University of Iowa. Dr. Abrons's contributions to medication safety have earned her national recognition.

Dr. Abrons's remains devoted to significantly improving health care access globally by developing resources, creating toolkits and publishing materials to aid other practitioners in transforming the pharmacy field. Her vision includes uniting pharmacy practitioners and other health care professionals to collaborate more effectively and improve their performance.
