NEW YORK, NY, January 15, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Norman S. Heyman, MBA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Heyman spent many years in the chemical and life science industries. Initially he was an engineer at Picatinny and Joliet Arsenal in the production of artillery ordnance as part of his military service. He was a chemical engineer for the next 10 years at American Cyanamid, Lummus Engineering, and Esso Research and Engineering. He transitioned to the investment field as an oil, chemical and drug analyst with Lord, Abbett where he remained for 28 years. He established his reputation in the investment field with his ability to uncover early major changes in those industries that positively impacted the firm's holdings.
From that position, he had the opportunity to deal with the top management of leading companies, and gained the respect of drug, medical device and instrument companies. As a leading investment analyst, he advised a number of senior executives in these companies. Many became colleagues and/or friends. He lists among his friends, many company leaders, including founders of companies well known in science and medicine.
One of his early accomplishments was raising funds and developing the management for a small electromagnetic lock company. Over the years, the company called Securitron became a leader in its field. He was the company's chairman. The company was subsequently sold to Assa Abloy for nearly $28 MM. He takes pride in helping to create 100 tax paying jobs.
Post his Lord, Abbett career, he continued his passion for funding and assisting leading edge and innovative early stage platform technology companies in reaching their potential using his engineering, chemistry and industry knowledge, and his relationships in industry.
He was involved in a venture with the Komarov Institute in Russia involving expeditions in Russia for collecting ethnobotanical samples for drug research. He was also involved in bringing a science out of the Russian space program for producing human nutrients in space. He introduced it to a variety of American drug companies involved in fermentation.
Among his early stage companies is Alladin (aka Haber), with a unique separation device that the patent office deemed totally new science. It was the subject of a PNAS paper. This technology separates materials 100-1,000 times faster than electrophoresis. The company has a second technology with a proprietary chemistry for recovering gold, precious metals and rare earths without using cyanide or mercury. A second company, he heads is hromatin Technologies that puts sugars on small molecule drugs, dramatically increasing their solubility and cross membrane transport, a timely company considering Carolyn Bertozzi winning a Nobel in 2022 for her groundbreaking work with glycans. The third company (MTP) is an industry recognized ruggedized non hospital infusion pump company that gained recognition from the WHO and the Department of Homeland Security. He continues to focus on financing and managing small companies, and continues his industry relationships to ensure these unique technologies make an impact in the world. He operates under an umbrella company called Technological & Investment Horizons.
He also was involved in political and geopolitical affairs, often working with and for leading political figures nationally and regionally, often as a speaker. He did extensive research on the Vietnam War and debated and discussed his findings in broadcast settings and at academic institutions. His piece on "The Quality of Dissent" received recognition from leading government officials during the Vietnam peace talks. This paper demonstrated his passion for integrity and honesty, personally and from government officials and the national media.
He was extensively involved in community, sports and his membership in a religious institution in his community of Fayson Lakes and Kinnelon in New Jersey.
He is a Lafyette College graduate with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1953, and an MBA in economics from Rutgers in 1964. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the honorary engineering society.
